The whole cohort found themselves at Hopper's secret cabin. Eleven was in her bedroom alone, attempting to find Billy in the void. The other were talking while Toni was sat with her walkie in her hand.
"Dustin." She spoke into it, even though she was doubting a response. "Dustin, please... please, for the love of God, tell me you're there. Just give me a sign, or something, anything." There was no answer. "Look, I'm in some deep shit and I could really use my little brother right now... I could really use my best friend right now so just answer me... come on, please..." After again receiving no answer, she dropped the walkie to her side, brushing a hand over her face. Toni turned her head when Eleven opened the door. She looked right at her, an unreadable expression on her face. "What?"
"The only thing I could find was you." She said.
"Wh- I don't... understand-"
"I found Billy. But I couldn't get to him, because everything that you're thinking, every little feeling is in the way." She breathed. "And I don't know how to bypass you."
"Is there something I can do?"
"Maybe."
-----
"This is crazy." Toni breathed, the only thing reminding her she was in the room was Eleven holding her hand. She had a blindfold over her eyes, as did El. She theorised that the only person that could navigate Toni's head would be Toni.
"Just relax." Eleven told her. Before she knew it, Toni was somewhere dark. She was stood in about an inch of water, but there wasn't much else. However, upon further inspection, she saw Billy in the distance. She made to approach him, but instead her foot sank straight through the floor and she was completely submerged in water. She began gasping frantically. "Don't let the water consume you."
"El, she can't swim." Will ponted out.
"Yes she can. Let her find it." For a moment, Toni continued to gasp, but then her panic settled as she found she was able to push through the water with ease. From under the water, she could hear a voice. A voice she recognised, but simply couldn't put to a face.
"I hear something." Toni spoke.
"Go to them. Find your safe place." Toni began wading through the water, but as she broke to the surface, Toni found she was sitting upright, her heart beating fast as she looked around to find she didn't immediately recognise her surroundings.
"Hey, hey." The voice echoed again, and she turned her head, relaxing to find it was Steve. "You're just dreaming, you're alright." She nodded, and he pulled her into his chest. The more she relaxed, she more she realised she was in her bedroom.
"It just felt so real." She said instinctively.
"I've got you. Nobody's gonna hurt you."
"What do you notice? What sticks out?" Eleven asked, and Toni began looking around the room.
"The door." She spoke.
"What?" Steve then asked.
"What about the door?"
"It's, it's open a little." She said, sitting up. "I should close it."
"You don't need to close it, it's fine."
"No, I think I should close it." She said again, climbing out of the bed.
"Toni, leave the door." Steve then begged. "Please leave the door alone." She shook her head, approaching it. She put a hand on it, allowing it to creek open. "Baby, don't leave me!" She turned, freezing for a moment. "Please come back to bed."
"Steve-"
"You have to leave him."
"I can't."
"It's not real, it's just a memory. Okay, Steve is out there somewhere waiting for you." She nodded, swiftly exiting the room and slamming the door closed behind her, only to reveal what looked to be a beach. Yet, the sky was blood red and there seemed to be a storm.
"Toni?" A voice spoke, and then she set eyes on him.
"Billy." She breathed.
"What are you doing here?" He asked.
"I just want to help you. We all do. But you just have to let me in." He shook his head, his gaze shifting to the floor.
"I'm scared." He admitted with a shrug. She took his hand, and he looked back up at her.
"Me too." She said, offering a small smile. "But I've got you, okay. I promise."
"Okay." He nodded. "That way." He said, pointing off into the storm. "That's where you'll find what you're looking for." Once again, she smiled, before walking off into the storm.
"Toni?"
"I'm in."
"Good, now come back."
"Hang on." She said, continuing to walk.
"Don't go too far, Toni, please!" Through the mist, she caught a glimpse of something. Someone. She set off running towards the storm, as fast as she could go. She could hear El's voice becoming more and more distant, but she had to know where it lead. Before she could, however, she was ripped out of the void and into reality in a split second.
"Hey, look at me." Johnathan had her face in his hands, and she found she couldn't focus her eyes and her head felt too heavy for her to support it all on her own. "Can you hear me?"
"Mm." She managed to get out. "What happened?"
"You went too far." Eleven said sadly. "We almost lost you." Toni reached up to find her nose and both of her eyes had been leaking blood. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't've let you go in there."
"It's okay, I'm okay." Toni nodded. "I just feel a little... y'know..." She trailed off, her eyes rolling into the back of her head as she dropped limp against Johnathans hold.
"She had a pulse, she's alright." He assured them, his fingers pressed firmly against her neck. Before anyone could say anything more, they found they were under attack, with little to no way to defend themselves.
