Love from Afar

Confirmation

       It was lunch, I had just had Chemistry and my brain was officially fried; thanks Mr.Kraft. He had given us the usual really boring lecture about some obscure topic I already forgot. Sadly for me, it wasn't a topic we had already covered so he went crazy in depth. I was two seconds away from a bad migraine and one second away from a power nap.

       I found my usual sitting spot with Sam and Kay. I just needed some time to relax. They were being their hilarious selves, allowing time for me to recharge. Sam had found a new obsession and was now eagerly telling Kay and I their newfound love for the WWE. I can basically hear Kay roll her eyes but Sam was way too excited to notice.

       "Rhea Ripley is so hot, she is basically my For You Page on TikTok" Sam said while showing Kay and I a photo they had on their phone.

      "Wow.. she's really pretty," I commented. We sat right in front of the windows that overlooked the front of the school. The sky seemed cloudless and so blue. A deeper blue than I had seen in a while. It had been raining all week, it was nice to see some blue.

       Sam was so excited their bright red hair started to look like Calcifer from Howl's Moving Castle. Before I knew it, I heard the fast footsteps coming down the hallway. Renesmee sat down quickly, she had something she really needed to share. Kay, Sam, and I looked attentively at her.

       "What's up?" I asked.

       "Um..it's a long story"

       "We have 40 minutes until third period," Kay said.

       Renesmee then finally told us what had been on her mind all day: in an attempt to prank her friend Richard (Dick) Miller, she told him that she had gotten a boyfriend. Hilarious.

       "Wait, why?" Kay asked

       "Well, he told me that he had broken up with his girlfriend but he said it in a weird way."

       "What do you mean by 'weird'?" Sam asked.

       "He said quote, 'I'm free now!!'"

       "I thought you said you and Dick were strictly platonic..?" I commented

       "We are! So I made up this story to make it seem like I had gotten a boyfriend."

      Kay just stared at her strawberries, desperately trying to hold down a laugh. Sam just started at Renesmee like she was being an idiot.

        "And I couldn't tell him he didn't know my 'boyfriend' because that would seem suspicious," Renesmee added.

       "Oh gosh.." I said, already knowing what this meant.

      Renesmee held her breath.

      "I told him I'm dating Christian Fletcher."

       It was at that point Sam covered their face like a disappointed parent. I'm not sure I have ever seen Kay look so shocked. We all knew that this was going to be hilarious.
