T/W: SWEARING

POV: adora's pov

AU: human au, real world

*Adora and catra have been long-distance dating via video calls, today is the first time they'll meet  in real life- adora has been tidying her apartment for hours*

Adora drained the remaining drops of coffee clinging to the rim of her mug down the sink, pinching her upper brow and sighing. Her grubby, short-trimmed fingernails scratched at the counter and her tight ponytail slightly tugged at her dry scalp, causing a small yet uncomfortable stinging sensation.

Her life was a hot mess. The small apartment was littered with empty takeaway boxes, the scraps of her microwave meals and unidentifiable stains that had a tendency to appear out of nowhere- she tended to keep her distance from those. It was always difficult to navigate her crowded home and she always felt like absolute shit whenever she took in her surroundings.

She just needed a rest, but she couldn't. She had to be alert for when Catra would arrrive! Wiping her ketchup-stained (HC: Adora loves ketchup lmaoo)  hands on her grey tracksuit bottoms, she dropped down onto her low-rise threadbare sofa, her knees spread out in a masculine fashion.

''When will she get here..?!'' Adora anxiously looked at her watch and then the door. After crudely tidying up the maze of waste scattered around her home, It would be a huge disappointment if Catra never arrived.

They had planned this meetup a while ago, via a video call, and although her girlfriend lived in a completely different timezone, they were both, adora assumed, determined to see each other again.  Fucking Catra and her timing.. She buried her face in her hands and groaned with impatience and worry. What if she secretly hates me? What if she got hurt or lost on her way here? What if she just decided not to come? Is she okay?

Her head was lost in a swirling motion, these thoughts echoing around the inside of her skull, pounding, not unlike one of her frequent chronic headaches. Her breathing shallowed; out of control and shaky. This went on for about half an hour, until she was on her knees and sobbing all over the hardwood floors. A tear ran down her face as she grasped her temples, trying to calm down from her panic attack. This was one of the worst ones she could recall. Her thoughts spinning, she was interrupted by a creak in the door, followed by a teasing yet friendly voice:

''Hey, Adora~'

It was Catra! she was there!

Adora couldn't wipe the grin off her face as she ran into Catra's arms.  Basking in the warmth and comfort of her body, she breathed in the scent of her curly hair and soft shoulder. Her arms were soft and gentle, simultaneous to being swift and muscular. Adora couldn't explain how much she had wanted this moment- she was finally meeting her girlfriend!

Looking up to admire Catra's slim, dark olive shaded face, her toned jawline and her heterochromatic eyes, shaded with a deep saffron and blue, she squeezed her tight as if she was the last person she'd ever hug. ''You're really here.. i can't believe it!'' In response, Catra grinned and tilted her head to one side sheepishly, her cheeks turning a slightly deeper shade of pink. Her teeth glinted under the flickering ceiling light, as she replied; ''You didn't think i wouldnt turn up, did you?'' Her sheepish grin morphed into a playful smirk, and she grabbed the now flustered blonde by the waist and headed inside.

''Quite a nice place you have here, Princess.''  Adora couldn't help but blush at the pet name. ''I'm glad you like it, but I'm a little surprised! Most people think my flat is a wreck.'' Catra scoffed and proceeded to sit down on the couch, pulling a blushing Adora down with her, and propped her feet up upon a grey-brown threadbare cushion.                                                                     ''well, 'most people' obviously don't know what they're talking about! besides, this is way better than my place back at home.''     Sighing in content, Adora leaned into Catra's arms. Although the brunette was greatly smaller than her, with no doubt, Adora could still find comfort lying against her. She grabbed a remote and switched on her small, stained television. ''What do you want to watch?'' Thinking about this, Catra tilted her head with a thoughtful face, pouting slightly and furrowing her brow in contemplation.

Holy SHIT, shes cute.

Adora couldn't help but giggle at the expression. ''HEY!'' Catra whined. ''Dont judge my thinking face, ok?!!'' Responding with nothing but a low chuckle, Adora rolled over to face the tv and switched on Netflix. ''Why don't we just watch she ra again?'' She tilted her head up to look at the other girl, awaiting a response. ''I dont see why not!'' Catra grinned and settled her shoulder to get into a more comfortable position.

The familiar theme tune started to play, the two girls singing along with hushed voices, giggling as it finished. They'd seen this episode a thousand times together on calls. However, for Adora, it felt different now they were watching it togther in real life. Real life. She still couldn't belive catra was really there- she could feel her soft chest rising and falling against her side, and her soft hair brushing against her thighs.

Her heart fluttered as she cuddled Catra closer, hearring a rumbling noise of satisfaction from her, almost like a purr. She chuckled to herself- this habit of Catra's certainly fit her name. Looking down at the relaxed woman resting her head on her lap, she sunddenly felt ovewhelmed with passion for her. It was like a warm blanket that swaddled her tight in its embrace, reassuring her that, although life may seem bad, it was all going to be ok. The blonde placed a single slender finger under Catra's olive-coloured ,toned chin.

''I love you, Catra. I always have''

Catra chuckled and shook her head slightly.

''You're such an idiot. You already know that I love you too.''

Adora grinned, and gazed at Catra's stunning hetero-chromatic eyes. She had never looked so beautiful. Catra shut her eyes, a content smile over her face, and leaned forward to touch her soft lips to Adora's, the impact gentle yet firm. Adora let herself get lost in the kiss, leaning into catra and letting herself go, releasing her muscles and feeling every last moment.

This is the life.
