Prologue

It wasn’t uncommon encountering people moving urgently during rush hour. However, it wasn’t until I saw someone rushing down the stairs towards me that I sensed something was amiss.

When that person bumped into my shoulder, my body tilted sharply. I panicked since my hastily stretched hand couldn’t reach anything. With nothing to grab on to, my body fell.

‘Is this how I’m going to die? Just like this……?’

I don’t want to die!

My body tumbled down the stairs and crashed on the floor. An excruciating pain erupted in my head and throughout my body. With blurred eyes, I stared at the person who had bumped into me but he just avoided my gaze.

His evasion made it seem as though nothing happened.

"AMBULANCE! CALL AN AMBULANCE"

"This woman seems familiar"

"OH MY GOD! IS THAT KIM SEO-YEON!"

The loud voices around me were growing farther and farther away. Despair welled up in me as my hazy vision became darker and darker until it was immersed in complete darkness.

‘I don’t want to die…’

Who would want to die? I didn’t want to die. It was unfair. I felt like I was going crazy because it was completely unfair. However, my body turned cold, betraying my will to live.

Tired. So tired.

The darkness seemed to be never ending, as I walked everything seemed to be surreal, I tried to open my mouth, I wanted to shout out loud but nothing came out.

My throat felt dry and rough, burning with extreme thirst.

It has been a long time since I was walking like this, it was not until I saw a tiny ray of light that I felt that there was a way out of this place.

My racing heart seemed to have calmed down as I followed the white ray, the ray that brought me hope.

I followed behind it until the brightness intensified. Every inch in my body ached as I dragged myself towards the source of light.

I wanted to escape the place desperately, it gave me a terrifying feeling as if it would cage me forever the monent I gave up.

After what seemed a long time, I stood there in front of the glaring lights. I was blinded by its intensity which caused me to cover my face by both of my hands. There was a flash and...

The dream ended as if it was dragged out and evaporated into unconsciousness. Sunlight poured brightly on my heavy eyelids.

GASP...!"

My eyes widened as I panted Blinking my cloudy eyes a couple of times, my vision gradually became clearer. Long curly blonde her fell over my shoulders and covered my face but I didn't pay attention to it as there was a more important matter.

"I...I..." I stuttered, "A-Alive..." A whisper left my mouth.

An intense pain throbbed at the back of my head

An intense pain throbbed at the back of my head. I grabbed my head with both hands, It seemed as if someone was pouring a whole blast furnace into my head.

'D*mn it, it hurts'

My throat was parched, It hurt me to speak a single word but no pain mattered as long as I was not dead.

Admist my thoughts, I noticed my surroundings that seemed part of a fairytale.

A huge room filled with antique and colorful furniture which makes it easy to jog. Each door is emblazoned with emblazoned imperial designs.

“Her highness has woken up!”

Someone left the room and brought with her a young man. She thought something was strange, when she heard that. It was the way they talk.

‘Why did they call me your highness?’

It’s an ambiguous honorific, and the emotional tears that were shed around her…… huh?

‘What’s with those clothes? Is it from a foreign historical drama? Medieval?’

She looked up at the women, who were all dressed in maid outfits, which were usually seen in American medieval times. Something must be wrong.

I got up in a hurry. No, I tried to get up.

"Ahhh!" My body was hurting so much that when I tried to move it  I screamed out loud and what was worse was the headache that seemed to break my head.

At the same time, strange memories flowed in. The place I've never seen, unfamiliar people ....... It was someone else's memory.

"Your highness your body is still recovering!" The young man that just entered shouted.

"M-Mirror... give me..."

The young man and the maids looked at each other confused.

"Calm down. Are you tired? Are you feeling pain anywhere?"

"I said get me a mirror, right now...cough cough..." My chest heaved up and down as I tried to calm down but it was all for naught.

The young man who seemed like a doctor hesistated for a moment before nodding at the maid. The maid left when she returned she brought a mirror and held it in front of me.

The face of the stranger on the mirror matched the one from the rush of the memories that I experienced just a few moments ago. My eyes widened in desbelief.

‘…It can’t be!’ I shook my head hard before even a second had passed of having such a ridiculous idea.

'Unbelievable but how could I explain what is happening right now ?'

The shock was too much especially when I felt so weak at the moment. My eyes closed and succumbed to the familiar darkness.
