ship: Jenlisa (top: Jennie)

content: a little angst, a little fluff, and a little spice 🤠 (but it's mostly just sweet 🥺🥺🥺)

Keeping a relationship secret is not easy. Lisa knew this better than anyone; but her and her girlfriend of one whole year had gotten relatively good at it.

It wasn't the people at school who were the problem, in fact, many people actually shipped the girls. It wasn't the possibility of discrimination in the general public either. Lisa would be just fine with being openly gay in either of those situations. But when it came to her parents, well, it was a different story.

In Lisa's house, everything had to be perfect. Her mother kept the house spotless, the decorations symmetrical, and the rules strict. Her father went along with her mother, although he probably didn't really care. So naturally, Lisa knew she would not be accepted. Her life was a design, perfectly organized by her mother. If she put one foot out of line, she knew it'd be over in the blink of an eye (hehe "blink").

All of this hadn't stopped her from saying yes when Jennie first asked her out, because, um, who could say no to the most popular girl in school? Not Lisa. She was lucky enough to be dating the one everyone wanted. She was grateful for that. But when it came to talking about coming out, she shied away like a scared puppy.

It was a typical day for the girls; meet up secretly behind the bakery adjacent to school so they could talk before school started. Once again, Jennie was trying to convince Lisa to tell her parents.

"Come on Jagi, I'm tired of people checking you out in the hallways! I want them to know you're taken," Jennie argued fairly. The girl was not one to hide her personality, or basically anything else. Jennie Kim wore what she wanted, talked like she wanted, and did what she wanted, with no restriction from her parents. It was probably because they were a little afraid of her. Yeah, Jennie was that powerful.

Lisa resisted the urge to sigh. Biting her lip, she linked her arm through her girlfriend's and and said, "I know... and same. It'd be a relief at school, but, Jennieeee," she whined out the name, "I don't want to end up in some kind of Let's Fix You because You're Messed Up camp," Lisa's voice fell into a whisper. "Or kicked out of my house."

Jennie pulled her closer by her waist. She made sure Lisa was looking at her before she said, "Ok. We'll talk about it later. But you know this can't go on forever. I'll be here for you, Li, but only if you show me that you're willing to put effort into this relationship."

"But I-" Lisa started to protest, but was cut off when Jennie sealed their lips together. She leaned onto the older like a lifeline and kissed back, returning the affection. Eventually Jennie drew back, and proceeded to leave quick pecks on Lisa's forehead, cheeks, nose, and one more on her lips.

"Save it. I love you. We'll figure it out, baby." Jennie reassured her. And then both girls were off to their respective classes.

After school got out, Jennie drove Lisa over to her house (Jennie's). If they had to hide the fact that they were together, at least they could pretend they were besties. Jennie's parents greeted them happily and left the girls alone once they went to Jennie's room.

Lisa could tell that Jennie was the tiniest bit mad, because she didn't say anything until they were alone.

"Tell me why you're afraid." Jennie lay down on her bed and pulled Lisa down beside her, wrapping her arms around her waist.

"Oh well if I do that then we're gonna be here for hours-" Lisa couldn't help it. Her sarcastic side always showed when she was emotional.

Jennie cut her off. "Mhm. We'll see about that. Now go, start listing."

"Well, there's the fact that my parents might kick me out, they might send me to a horrible reformation camp, my little sister would be traumatized for life without me being there, people might start giving us ugly looks, I might bring your whole reputation down, we might face all sorts of hate-" the younger seemed like she was going to go on for hours.

Once again, Jennie stopped her. "The world might end, we both might die, we might get eaten by a monster," now Jennie was making fun of her. Lisa smacked her girlfriend's arm playfully and pretended to be hurt. But Jennie was going to prove her point. "Listen to yourself, Lili (🥺). The things you listed are all "mights". Every single one of them isn't a fact. Be honest, babe. You don't know they could happen; it's just your way of thinking negatively. Just think about how much easier it'd be to show our love freely, instead of having to put on an act. We both know it's tiring. It's not right to have to hide forever. And no matter what your parents do or say, they don't get to decide who you love. No one else but us gets to decide who we love."

"But what if they ship me off somewhere?!" Lisa's eye began to fill with tears. Having to suffer through some kind of "fix" counseling would be her worst nightmare. She hated feeling like she was messed up or made wrong.

Jennie sat up, pulling Lisa with her. She tilted the younger's chin to meet her face, and wiped off a stray tear. "I won't let them. You can come live with me if they won't appreciate their daughter for who she is. I'll show you all the love you deserve. Nothing can keep me from loving you. Not even your parents. Not even society. Nothing at all."

Now Lisa was on the verge of sobbing. She loved how Jennie could turn a mess of emotions into a clear message, but hated how she had to burden her lover with her worries. "I'm sorry I'm crying," she managed to whisper, fiercely wiping her tears away. Jennie smiled a little, gazing at her lovingly, and proceeded to kiss away all the tears that fell.

After Lisa got her thoughts in order again, she came to a conclusion. Jennie was right. It didn't matter what her parents might do. All that mattered was that she stayed herself instead of changing for people who could never be satisfied. If she wasn't good enough for them, it was their fault for expecting perfection. After all, wasn't she human? Lisa decided right then that the only thing that mattered was her love. She loved Jennie. And she loved herself. She didn't need anyone's approval for that much.

"Jennie?" She looked up at the older with confidence in her eyes. Jennie smiled, already knowing was she was going to say. "I'm going to tell them tomorrow."

"I'm proud of you, Jagiya. Let's not worry about what might happen. Let's just worry about right now."

Lisa nodded, but her old worrisome thinking pattern wasn't quite gone. "Wait!!!!" She sat up straighter, her eyes getting wide again. "How am I going to tell them? Just walk up and say "I'm gay and I have a girlfriend! Bye!"? That'd be so weird! Ugh! What do I do?"

Jennie wanted to laugh at the quick mood change, but then an idea hit her. "I know of an easier way," she said slyly, watching Lisa's face. It took a moment for the other to grasp her meaning.

"Jennie Kim! You are not thinking what I think you're thinking!!" Lisa turned redder than a tomato. Jennie started crawling toward her slowly with a devilish smirk on her lips. "Jennie!!!!" Lisa backed up, putting her hands in front of her as if that would stop the girl. Lisa dissolved into a tangle of squeals and giggles as she tried to defend herself from Jennie. The older ended up chasing her around while they both laughed their heads off.

Eventually, as things always went, Jennie won. She tackled Lisa to the bed and pinned her hands beside her, finally succeeding in attacking her lips. Lisa gave in immediately, matching her girlfriend's desire-filled kisses. The funny thing for Lisa was that, although she knew what the other girl was planning, she had nothing against it. Why not show up at her parents house covered in hickeys made by a girl? It sounded kind of fun. Adventurous, even. What the fuck is wrong with me?!?!? Lisa screamed at herself internally. She'd never felt this confident about being gay before. Oh, the things her lover could do to her head. And not just her head, either.

Jennie eventually made her way to Lisa's neck, creating her own kind of artwork on Lisa's canvas of soft skin. Both girls forgot all about the worries of the day as the reveled in loving each other.
