Chapter 12: Gage's Serenade

Since Saturday she has only slept about an hour a night. Skipping dinner at her fathers house on Sunday taking a plane to the Canada as to help settle with some of the details of the deals and construction problems they had going on she would be flying back by Tuesday and back in the office by Wednesday. Maybe. Lincoln and Jaxon by her side, while the other two held down the fort at the office. Both men being gentle around her knowing how she gets when she is mad. However none of them knew how to respond when she was hurt. Never thought it would happen before. Never once in their lifetime have they ever heard of or seen her with actually emotions. Her having them to begin with was thought to be myth like big foot and the Loch Ness monster personally they liked their chances with good ol' Sasquatch, and Nessie there.

"Maybe it's not as bad as it seems." Lincoln threw out in the open of silence trying to help. As Jaxon raised his head in a smile to the guy. While Tessa looked at him like he would burst into flames." "Hear me out, before you shoot me first." Lincoln said with his hands up quickly. "I value you Lincoln you know this by now go ahead and speak your peace. I won't shoot at you...yet." Taking a deep breath. "I think maybe taking the situation into seeing it from both sides point of view is important when faced with a problems like this. You have every right to be as mad as you are. After all the warnings he gave you bout his families side and such. However the whole time he gave you those warning he made it clear he was nothing like that. Gage doesn't think that way, nor does his father. After spending time with Sean you should know that right? If you bond with Gage this whole time you already know if he was putting in the effort already than who you were will make no difference as long as you are still who you are." Looking at her nervously before continuing on with his point.

"Looking form Gages point of view he has been used and played with more than an Xbox and Legos boss. There is only so much a human heart can handle before it gives up. Than all of a sudden this woman pops up making him feel like an actual person. No one understands how hard it is for us men man, like no one. We never know if a woman is hitting on us for real or to use us for free drinks, food, stuff? Are we just someone they are using to get someone else jealous or filling up their time until the guy they really want is free. Do they want us to get ahead by some job title, family name title. Are they getting close to us to get closer to either someone in our family or worse friends. This stuff happened all the time with him. You have to understand how scared he might have been getting ready for his first like real honest date. How hard it must have been to put himself out there in fear of being used all over again. Something wonderful happening to him, and it would be like fake for all the wrong reasons." Lincoln told her as he stepped out of the swinging zone.

Jaxon admired Lincoln words of wisdom and he really liked Gage so he knew he had to help out. "Tessenia you have every right to be mad and make the man suffer. Lincolns right though. You are around nothing but mainly men you know he right too. You see it all the time for yourself. You went through all this awkward stuff with Gage because he don't know how the fuck to feel or do about any of it but he's always trying his best. His learning. You said yourself that file didn't have shit really in it that wasn't already what we made public knowledge. Hell we the reason its so short in the first place with our hackers. You two still got to know each other on your own terms. In your own way. You are right to be mad but maybe over reacting just a little bit. He still in the dog house but come on you know he out there feeling like crap right now. You can't punish him anymore than he is doing to himself." Walking into their hotel room after the long meetings.

"Give him a raise. Check in on everything else both of you and leave me alone for the rest of the night." Tessa told them flatly. Going in her room sitting down after a long shower. Thinking everything over. Coming to terms with wondering if he would leave her when finds out the truth. She tried so hard to tell him. Looking at their happy pictures on her phone crying silently to herself. Body shaking a little. The feelings she had for him were unlike anything she's ever known or read. The only thing she knew was she loved him enough to get through things together. Still being mad though it would be best to talk to him in person. What he did was not right. What she was doing now was worse. Trying her best she knew she had to hurry up and get herself together she only had one more day until she knew he'd find her. Turning off her phone and ignoring the texts and calls from him, her dad and the world around her. Just for one night she would be vulnerable. Give in to her heart ache and just be alone with herself. Tomorrow she can go back to being the beast, the Dark Angel that gave the world nightmares, yet still sleep in peace at the same time.
