Cutlass Arrow (Season 1)

1. Pilot

Lian Yu

Anna Knight was running through the woods, breathing heavily. She launched herself off a rock to jump and swing on a tree branch before landing on the ground again, continuing to run. Anna climbed up a rocky cliff, barefoot and upon reaching the top, she saw a fishing boat sailing on the ocean.

"Oliver!" Anna called out, turning her head.

Oliver Queen ran closer, his beard was grown and his long blond hair was covered by a green hood. He saw the boat and exchanged a look with Anna before they both ran down the cliff towards the beach.

Oliver had hidden his bow and arrows near the beach, Anna pulled out a knife and stabbed it into the ground. Oliver used the blade to spark the arrowhead and raised his bow, firing the arrow to ignite a bonfire on the sand.

On the boat, Fisherman 1 was putting the fish caught in a net into a tray.

Fisherman 2 walked closer and saw the bonfire, speaking in Chinese.

Fisherman 1 turned to look at the bonfire.

Anna: (voiceover) "The name of the island they found us on is Lian Yu. It's Mandarin for 'purgatory'."

The fishermen walked onto the beach, passing a post with Deathstroke's mask sitting on top with an arrow piercing one of the eye sockets.

Anna: (voiceover) "We've been stranded here for five years. I've dreamt of my rescue every cold black night since then."

Oliver and Anna were now on the beach, approaching the fishermen. Tired and dirty, Anna fell onto her knees with the knife in her hands.

Oliver: (voiceover) "For five years, I have had only one thought. One goal. Survive."

Oliver pulled back his hood and looked up at the fishermen.

Oliver: (voiceover) "Survive and one day return home."

Anna and Oliver were now on the boat with the fisherman, both of them covered with a blanket and each fisherman offered them some water to drink.

Anna: (voiceover) "The island held many dangers. To live, we had to make ourselves more than what we were, to forge ourselves into weapons."

Oliver raised the cup to his lips, drinking.

Oliver: (voiceover) "I am returning, not the boy who was shipwrecked, but the man who will bring justice to those who have poisoned my city."

Anna looked up, seeing the island in the distance.

Anna: (voiceover) "And he will not be alone. My name is Anna Knight."

Oliver: (voiceover) "My name is Oliver Queen."

Oliver and Anna: (voiceover) "And together, we will save Starling City."

The news was reporting Oliver and Anna's return.
