Prologue

Zodiac ('zōdē,ak)
Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces

In this dystopian world, everyone is separated by their birth star sign. People are only allowed to marry their star sign, befriend their star sign, and see their star sign significant other. A good example would be: if ones mother is a Gemini and births an Aquarius, the fetus is taken from the mother and given to the rest of the Aquarius. The adoptive parent is always the "official" parent. The only time you're allowed to see a different star sign is if they are of the same element. If the individual has the same element, they still are not allowed to marry nor befriend, just see from a distance. An example would be: Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorns can see each other from distances, but they can not talk, marry, nor befriend one another. All of us star signs are separated.

My name is Valeria. My zodiac is Sagittarius, the element of fire, dates: 23rd of November to the 21st of December. I was born on November 26th. This is my story of how I met a Taurus named Skye. His name is very interesting because Taurus's are the element of Earth and it is claimed that Earth is in the sky. It's is illegal that we ever met, but far more terrifying that I'm falling in love with him. The government separated the zodiacs because they want us to believe no zodiac of a different name will ever make friends of those who differ. Skye and I broke a huge law, and we're in for it.
