Today was the dinner party. My fiancé, Adam, and I would share our love for one another with all our friends and family. I wrote a speech that was sure to make him cry and make him love me even more than he did already. Adam placed his hand on my lower back, between my unzipped dress. I moved my hair over one shoulder so he could zip me up without getting my hair caught. I waited for a moment but before I could say anything his fingers trailed up my back slowly. The sensation was powerful and I closed my eyes before letting out a soft sigh.

I felt Adam take a step closer before his hot breath brushed against my ear.
"This dress is perfect on you. You're perfect, love." His accent always got to me, in a good way. It made me want to shut him up by putting my tongue in his mouth.
My breathing grew heavy as he began zipping up the dress slowly. When he was finished I turned and faced him, placing my hands on his shoulders. Our faces were only inches apart as I stared into his eyes.
"Tell me how badly you want me to be your wife, forever." I whispered.
He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled my hips into his.
"You're my everything. I want to die by your side. Spend every waking moment with you until our dying day." A huge smile grew on my face. Hearing him say such a thing made me feel like the luckiest woman alive.
I was the luckiest woman alive.

To be marrying a man that could take care of me and who wanted to do so was the most amazing feeling. Adam had money, too much money. Even though my mother is convinced that's why I'm marrying the man, she doesn't see what goes on behind closed doors, like the moment Adam and I just had. He is my world. I fell for him before I knew about his business and all the money he has. I chose the right man and I think my mother is just angry that I'm finally happy. She can be so spiteful. She hates seeing two people in love since she never had that with my father.

The car ride was so relaxing as Adam held my hand the entire drive. He talked about his friends that were going to be there and who I was going to meet for the first time.
"My brother is going to be there..." His voice trailed off.
He never talked about his brother. All I knew about him was that he was no good. Adam told me that his brother, Harry, is a drug dealer and he's convinced he's a drug addict too, but definitely a drunk. No one in the family speaks to him because of his anger issues. I suddenly felt worried. Should he even be at our dinner?

I moved my hand away from Adams and put my hands together in my lap.
"Is that okay? I can... I can tell him to leave when we get there." He said with worry in his eyes.
He was as worried as I was and he was making it as if he wanted me to say yes just so he wouldn't have to deal with him.
"Why is he even going if no one talks to him?" I looked down at my hands.
Adam put his hand on my arm and rubbed.
"He found out somehow that I was getting married and he called me... It was surprising actually. I hadn't heard from him in awhile and he just asked if he could join us at the dinner party. He even told me he was happy for me. Harry's never happy..." He sighed.
"But... Why did you say okay?"
"He's my brother and I love him. Sure he's a complete fuck up and a disappointment to our family, but he... He had sincerity in his voice. Maybe he's changed." He was hopeful.
That's what I loved about Adam as well. He was so forgiving and loving. Even to people that didn't deserve it.

We pulled up to the restaurant and I began gathering my purse together from the floor. Suddenly the door opened as Adam held it open for me, giving me a big smile. I loved the man so much.

Walking into the restaurant hand in hand Adam leaned in, pecking me on the cheek.
"Just steer clear from him until I let you know if he's okay to talk to. If he's high or drunk I'll tell him to leave." He whispered into my ear.
I nodded as we approached the table at the back of the restaurant. Around 10 or 15 people that were seated stood up and began clapping. Adam wrapped his arm around my waist and waved. I gave a shy smile and began to giggle. My mother and Adams mother had been sitting next to each other. It made me so happy to know they got along so well. His father was on the opposite side of his wife sitting next to their adopted son, John.
