The Panic

"WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO!" shouted Keith in frustration.

He was struggling to come up with the words for his final chapter of the novel he was writing. Not knowing where to begin, he plopped his head on his desk with an irritated sigh. That is until his phone began to ring. Flipping it upright on the desk, he read the name with a confused look on his face.

"Lance?" he questioned, "What could he possibly want this time..."

Usually he didn't mind when Lance called. In fact, he always got super excited, which Lance picked up on and purposefully called just to hear the excitement. However, this time he was not in the mood. Sighing, he answered the call, resting his neck on the back of his chair.

"Yeah?" Keith huffed, moodier than ever.

"Aren't you chipper this morning...."

"I don't have time for this, Lance."

"Okay, okay" Lance chuckled, "I just wanted to check in, see how things were going. Doesn't sound like you're having a good morning by your tone."

"You're right... I'm sorry. I just can't come up with a single word for this chapter and everything is creeping up on me. I don't know what to do. Lance, I-"

"Woah woah, calm down." Lance usually talked with his hands, so Keith could tell he was being serious. "Why don't I come over and we talk through it? You know what, don't answer that. I'm coming over."

Keith heard him gathering his things before he even finished his sentence. Remaining quiet, he listened to Lance's breathing. Although once Lance clued into the dead silence, he chuckled, which threw Keith off guard. He was now noticeably flustered and even Lance could feel it through the phone.

Lance, being his flirty self as usual, teasing his now speechless boyfriend, "aww is the Keith Kogane blushing?"

"Sh-shut it McClain!" he shouted through his hands.

All Lance could do was laugh. It took him a solid minute of listening to Keith telling him to knock it off before he calmed enough to pack the last few things and head out.

It took roughly 10 minutes to get to Keith if he was speed walking, which he normally did. This time, however, he decided to pick up coffees. Once he got to the café, he remembered Keith said he doesn't drink coffee, but he wasn't sure what that meant. He decided to call him again even though he originally wanted it to be a surprise.

"Lance? Shouldn't you be here by now?" He was growing more panicked by the minute.

"Uh, yeah, about that..." he started.

"What?! Are you hurt? Lost? Did that guy-" Lance cut him off.

"KEITH" Keith took a deep breathe, "I was just calling to ask what drink you want...?"

"Oh.... I don't wanna tell you."

Lance laughed once again, "but I need to know in order to bring you anything. I was thinking that since it's a bit chilly out, you'd like a hot drink. Since you said you don't drink coffee I was going to get something else. Soooooo, what is it you "don't wanna tell me.""

He sighed and mumbled, "hot chocolate..."

Lance chuckled, "Keeeeith, why are you making this so difficult?" he asked in a whiney tone.

Keith huffed, "HOT. CHOCOLATE." Now Lance knew he announced that with his hands. "Lance..?" he then whispered.

"Okay, hot chocolate it is."

He wasn't sure why Keith felt the need to hide that he preferred hot chocolate over coffee. He thought it was cute. The dark and emo Samurai loved the sweetest hot drink he could think of. Lance could imagine him trying to pass it off as coffee to the rest of their friends. He was the only one, after all, that didn't drink coffee ever.
