Karaoke galoreMAYBE IT WASN'T so terrible to be surrounded by people or vampires. And that is a lot coming from Harper May Knight. The Cullen and Denali family are the only ones in the living room, with Garrett and Harper joining them. Garett insists that they join.
As Emmett sang loudly in front of the karaoke with a bottle in hand which contained beer mixed with blood. Harper was trying to stop a smile from crawling on her lips, but as Emmett sang so carefree. Harper wished she could do the same.
"'Cause, we are living in a material world. And I am a material girl. You know that we are living in a material world. And I am a material girl!" Emmett sings as he dances around the living room.
It was a break from the heated discussion yesterday. It'll be four weeks until the snow sticks to the ground. And karaoke is a great way to bond and release some steam and calm the anxiety and nervous environment.
After his song, Garrett came into view and played his music. Everything I do, I do it for you, by Brandy engulfed the room. It was totally Garrett's taste.
"Look into my eyes. You will see what you mean to me. Search your heart, search your soul. When you find me there, you'll search no more." Garrett sings as he looks at Kate with passion. He gestures his hand towards her as Kate chuckles, taking his hand, not electrifying him this time.
"You can't tell me it's not worth trying for. I just can't help it. There's nothing I want more. Oh, I would fight for you. Yeah, I'd lie for you. Walk the wire for you, yeah, I'd die for you."
"Bad bitches listen to "Like a Virgin," by Madonna. Blast that shit while we're fighting the Volturi, and we'll win." Emmett comments as he watches Garrett finish his song.
"I guess we all have different tastes in music, big guy." Garrett pats his shoulder, handing Harper the mic. With her raising an eyebrow at him.
"Come on, Harper. Let us listen to that wonderful voice of yours." Garrett winks at her, and Harper rolls her eyes at him as she plays her song. Un-break my heart by Toni Braxton. A song of a broken heart? Maybe.
"Don't leave me in all this pain. Don't leave me out in the rain. Come back and bring back my smile. Come and take these tears away. I need your arms to hold me now. The nights are so unkind. Bring back those nights when I held you beside me." Harper sings with a soothing and enchanting voice that calls out to Emmett like a singing siren.
They began to cheer in a low tone. While Harper decided to move her body with the music. She didn't know. Maybe it was a spur of the moment when she held out her hand to Emmett. And with him taking it as they swayed slowly.
"Take back that sad word goodbye. Bring back the joy to my life...." Harper sings as if her soul is calling out to Emmett in a way she never felt before. It was...scary. And when the songs ended, and so did the moment. Harper lets go of his shoulder as Emmett lets go of her hand and feels empty without her hand in his.
She apologizes with her eyes as she gives the mic to the person near her which was Rosalie and leaves the room.
As she was strolling outside, it all came back to her how...warm the feeling was being in Emmett's arm, and she didn't know why. It was unfamiliar, but she liked the feeling. She wants to feel it again. And it all felt surreal.
All of this feels surreal with how much the Cullen family emits positive energy that she could use too. Just thinking about going back to Manchester in her apartment alone feels dreadful. She would miss the buzzing excitement and laughter downstairs.
She enjoyed their company. And it was a new feeling.
Harper sat on the ravine's edge, still in Cullen's territory. She hears heavy footsteps coming towards her, and she doesn't even turn around to look at the person coming towards her because she already knows who it is.
"Mind if I sit with you?" Emmett asks softly, and Harper tilts her head with a small smile of hers.
"No. I don't mind."
