Kota had no idea what to expect when waking up from an explosion out in the open. A few heroes trying to apprehend the villain that caused said explosion? Maybe.
Kota stirred awake and coughed. He slowly stood up and looked around. He saw Mandalay a small distance away from him, still unconscious. It was to be expected, considering she was closer to the explosion, but for the most part she looked unharmed. Suddenly, Kota heard a cracking above him, and yet another explosion took place from the inside of a building, most likely where the villain was. Rubble and debris burst out into the open and Kota ducked down to try and avoid them. A few figures ran out of the building, and the sound of commotion and yelling was heard as the explosions continued.
Kota's ears began ringing and all he could hear was white noise. He continued coughing and couldn't see anything. The smoke had grown to great and his vision was fully obscured. Suddenly, one explosion got too close and knocked Kota even further back. Above him, a large chunk of a building slowly broke off and dropped down right above Kota. The poor boy didn't even notice as he slowly got up, the ringing still continuing and his vision still blocked. When Kota finally noticed from the growing shadow above him, it was all too late for him to move. He just stood there, covering his eyes with his arms and ready to accept his fate.
But then...
"TRANSFORM!"
With the sound of shifting metal for one moment, and a red blast of energy from another, the chunk from the building was obliterated. Kota, who's eyes were still slightly ringing, realised he was still alive and looked round. Then, when he looked to his left, he saw it. Or more so, he saw him.
But a giant robot with the parts of a fire engine? Absolutely not.
Kota stood in awe at the sight before him. The metal behemoth stared at him with gentle eyes, before getting down to one knee, close to Kota. The boy considered running, but he was too overwhelmed. Be it fear or amazement, he didn't know. All he did know was that his body refused to move, and that he certainly didn't expect what happened next.
"Are you alright?" Asked the red saviour.
Kota's jaw dropping was the only response he could give.

Kota was speechless. Legitimately speechless. He thought that in a world of superpowers that there wouldn't be anything that could really surprise him. But here it was. The thing Kota never expected to encounter in his life. A giant robot. A giant robot who speaks, nonetheless.
"Young one," It asked again, "are you alright? Have you suffered any injuries?"
Kota lightly shook his head, finally giving the mech his answer. With that, the machine nodded it's head.
"It's not safe here. Find your carer and get to safety." It ordered him.
BOOM
Yet another explosion. The heroes still hadn't apprehended the villain? It didn't matter to Kota. All that mattered to him was finding-
"Mandalay...!" He uttered. The smoke had cleared out slightly, and Kota could finally see his aunt. Unfortunately, the state she was in wasn't a good one. There were several chunks of rubble were covering the lower half of her body.
