Chapter One;
"Why is that girl sitting all alone, mommy?" a little kid asked their mother. "I don't know; maybe waiting for somebody, I guess." she replied and I looked up at her.
She had brown hair and green eyes. She smiled weakly at me in apology and walked along with her child.
I hung my head again and sighed, thinking about my mom. I left the house to live with my aunt in Austria to get away from her when we had a falling out a while ago.
❂ Two Years Ago ❂
"Nash, where the hell are you guys going?" I exclaimed to my older brother. "Chill out," he slurred, the alcohol already had taken its place, "we'll be back, were just getting more drinks."
"Wha-" Cameron put his hands on my shoulder and sighed, "It'll only be a minute. I'm totally sober and Nash is sure as heck not gonna drive. Don't worry, okay?"
I rolled my eyes and nodded reluctantly. "Whatever. Just get back safe." Cameron and Nash left and I was stuck alone in a teenaged party.
Everybody was sweaty from grinding on one another and it stunk. Sexual music was playing loudly. This is not an appropriate place for a fourteen year old.
The booming music was stopped and somebody was yelling for all of the people to get out of the house. I can recognize that voice anywhere: mom.
Nash said they were going to the drug store five minutes away, what the fuck happened to coming back quick?!
When the house emptied out, mom and I were the only ones in the room. She looked at me with anger and disappointment. What the fudge.
"Hayden! I leave you alone for three hours and I come home to this crap?" she yelled. I cringed, "It was Nash and Cameron's idea!"
My voice was the same volume as hers. "Well, then! Where is Nash?" mom asked. "He went to get more drinks with Cameron!" I shouted back.
"Nash is too good for this," she lowered her voice and spoke to herself, "he couldn't have done this."
I scoffed and clenched my jaw. "Why can't you just be like Nash? Or Hayes at least and not be such a disappointment." she spat. My face softened and my eyes watered, but I didn't let them go. I exhaled deeply and closed my eyes for a second.
"Okay, stop right there! I'm sorry, but we're not all perfect in this goddamn world! We're not all internet sensations, so stop comparing me to my siblings. Yeah, I might not be as good looking or have a good behavior as them, but that doesn't mean you always have to say "they're so perfect, why can't you be like them?" or "maybe you should hang out with Hayden more often so she can rub off of you". Well, guess what: I'm never going to be that perfect daughter you've always wanted. Like it or not, this is who I am. Why can't you just accept me for me?" By the time I was done yelling, Nash and Cameron were inside and heard my rant.
I ran up to my bedroom and began to throw majority of my belongings in my suitcase. When I went back down stairs to leave, mom called after me.
"If you leave, you're not welcomed back!" she said. "Then I guess I'm not welcomed, huh?" I mumbled and Nash still drunk off of his ass, not knowing what was going on. Meanwhile, Cameron knew exactly what was happening, so he would inform Nash about it.
Every time something was wrong, I always told Cameron about it. I stepped out of the house and the cold air hit me in the face, but I kept walking anyway.
❂ Present ❂
It was already four in the afternoon and I decided to head back home. Well, my aunt's house. Even though I live there, I didn't call it my home. I always called it my aunt's house.
A home was where you could be yourself and where your loved ones are. A house is just where you're living. There's a difference. Since then, I've had no contact with my family, but I always watch Cameron's videos when I get the chance. Not Nash's, though. So that's why I'm here today.
