Chapter 2: "Errands, Errands. Errands?"

~ The Next Day || Shuichi's POV ~

I decided that I was going to talk to Rantaro and Akamatsu about Kokichi's shenanigans. They've known him longer than me so they should know something.

I stood outside my apartment complex early so I could catch them when they came out because I never asked what room either of them stayed in.

Soon, they both walked out the complex and Rantaro spotted me and waved. Akamatsu looked away sadly.

"Hey Shuichi, good morning." Rantaro said happily.

"Hi. Um, do you mind walking me to the convenience store? I need to get a few things." I asked. I was obviously uneasy because I was pulling at my uniform shirt and my hat was lower than usual. Rantaro understood the assignment and frowned softly.

"Well if it's to get something to eat, I made too much for my tier lunch so I put some together for you." Rantaro said to me. I started pulling my shirt more.

"N-No it's not for food...it's for something else."

Now he could definitely tell something was up. He walked next to me and whispered.

"What's the matter Shuichi? Did something happen last night?" Rantaro whispered to me. I gasped lightly and tightly closed my eyes.

Is it really okay to tell him? He won't tell Kokichi will he?

I then looked at Akamatsu. She was staring daggers at me and when I met her gaze, she pouted and looked away from me.

Maybe I upset her somehow yesterday...
I then turned to Rantaro and whispered.

"Kokichi...he sent me some stuff he wanted from the store. I-I have to get them...or he'll make my high school life a living hell..." I said softly so only Rantaro could hear. I suddenly felt Rantaro's aura grow cold.

"Don't worry about it...let's just go to school." Rantaro whispered back to me. He then turned to Akamatsu and she straightened up in an instant.

"Come on Kaede. It's getting late." He said with a smile. Akamatsu nodded and followed. He then issued me to follow both of them.

I followed, trailing behind.

~ Normal POV ~

At the school, Kokichi was waiting at the front gate. When he spotted Shuichi, he ran quickly.

"Hey there Shumai! Got my goodies?" Kokichi said looking around Shuichi. He had sweat falling from his face and then looked at Rantaro.

"Kokichi, don't you think he didn't have the time to get it? Me and Kaede walked with him to school but as you can see, we're late. We're never late. It's because we waited for Shuichi and he didn't come down until 8am." Rantaro said to Kokichi.

"Aww what a bummer....oh well. I thought that would happen so I packed me a lunch and I got some muffins from the dining hall. That's fine. Well bye guys!" With that, Kokichi was off. Shuichi sighed a major sigh of relief.

"Be on your guard Shuichi. He will come back." Rantaro said as he stared into the direction Kokichi disappeared to. Shuichi gulped. Kaede stared at Shuichi.

I don't get it. Rantaro told me to stay away from him and now overnight, they're best buds. What the hell...? Kaede pouted and sighed.

"Hey Rantaro, can I talk to you real quick?" Kaede said before they walked away. Shuichi then turned to her and blinked. She huffed and then looked back at Rantaro.

"Alone..." Shuichi looked down sadly and then looked away. Rantaro looked at Kaede then at Shuichi.

"Sorry about that. I'll meet you in home room?" Rantaro said to Shuichi. He nodded and then walked into the school.
