Alberu was just having one of those days.

If it wasn't one thing, it was the other. Currently the one thing was a very long and one-sidedly awkward conversation with Count Deruth Henituse.

It was a day that Alberu was abundantly grateful for his ability to conceal his emotions effectively because there was absolutely nothing inside of him that was ready to sit face to face with Cale's father.

However this wasn't a meeting that could be delayed, no matter how his mind drifted back towards the man who was hopefully still in his bedroom.

Knowing Cale it was a serious toss up whether he'd be there or not when Alberu got back.

Alberu's heart hammered in his chest as he tried very hard to focus on the conversation at hand.

Deruth was an affable man without an interest in the political arena. He was firm but intelligent with his investments and among the nobility who Alberu had a fair opinion of.

And Alberu fucked his son last night.

"Your highness? Is something wrong?"

Alberu took a sip of his tea, using the opportunity to fix his expression and smiled congenitally at the Count. "It's nothing, please continue."

It was always times like these where time felt like it was going to slow to a stop and every few seconds felt like a century. Alberu was having a certain amount of difficulty containing his impatience.

He was also having quite a bit of trouble not thinking about last night.

Nails running down his back as ferocious brown eyes burned into Alberu, framed by flushed cheeks as his red hair bounced to the rhythm of–

"So what do you think, your highness?"

Alberu's smile was frozen in place as he rolled back his memories to figure out what it was exactly that Count Henituse had just said. Once he'd found the words, he replied with the appropriate affirmative.

Cale Henituse was sure to be the bane of his existence.

Regardless of whether Cale intended to or not, he was slowly driving Alberu off the edge of sanity and into the abyss of absolute madness.

And the worst part was Alberu had no intention to even break his fall.

"Your highne–ahh!–Alberu! Fuc–AH!"

Alberu was going to hell. He was definitely going to be punished for his crimes in the next life. Some god was going to strike him down to set an example of what happens to degenerates like him.

He sipped his tea, attempting to think about just about anything else that he possibly could. He needed to focus on what the Count was saying and lord, it had only been thirty minutes? Alberu's smile twitched as his frustration threatened to overtake his face.

Deruth thankfully didn't notice, busy going over the details on the next item on their seemingly endless agenda.

This was torture. Normally speaking, Alberu actually found his meetings with Count Henituse to be quite fruitful and a good investment of his time. Because of the count's overall disinterest in the political arena, he skipped over a lot of the bullshit hemming and hawing about some meaningless agenda or another and just skipped straight to the stage of problem solving with Alberu.

It was a refreshing change of pace and quite endeared the man to Alberu. It was just quite unfortunate that today of all days was just the wrong time for this meeting.
