Wilhelmina's POV

"It'll be fun Libby! Please!" She giggled, pulling me up the ladder to her loft.

"I don't see why we're up here," I said laughing, rolling my eyes, playfully. I was happy and I was free. And I wanted to exist like that forever, drowning in happiness with my love.

Once in the space between her roof and the house, I was dragged up yet another flight of stairs and onto the tiled roof outside.

"I'm tired!" I whined, still laughing, as she sat on the roof and motioned for me to sit next to her.

I sat on the tiles and wrapped my wings around myself and y/n protectively, just in case she tried to fall off or something stupid like that.

"Aren't they pretty?" She whispered, leaning into me.

"What?"

"The stars, Libby," she giggled and started pointing out constellations.

"I love you." I smiled down at her, as she finished a story about the stars. That was the first time I'd said it and she looked shocked, before a huge grin cracked on her face and she kissed me gently.

"I love you too."

"I'm so scared one day I'm going to hurt you," I whispered softly, as I plaited her hair back, 'Sara' by Fleetwood Mac was playing quietly next to us.

"I don't care if you hurt me, I know it'll happen eventually," she whispered back, squeezing my leg, that was next to her, just gently.

"I'm so sorry for when it does."

"I forgave you before we even met, my darling."

"YOURE SO STUPID! WHAT IF YOUD BEEN HURT?!" I yelled, growing hot.

"I wasn't hurt Libby, I'm fine," she whispered, stepping close to me, trying to take me into a hug.

But I was quicker, turning her round and pinning her to the wall, so her face was against the cold structure.

It just overtook me. I hit her. But I didn't mean to. I didn't want to. It just happened. And then she was bleeding. My hands had burned her back, leaving deep burning gashes across her flesh. Blood. Blood everywhere.

"LIBBY IT BURNS!" She screamed, but I couldn't hear her. I was running down the stairs and to the door.

"DONT YOU DARE FUCKING LEAVE I LOVE YOU ITS OK IM OK!" She screamed, holding me back from the door, smearing her blood across my torso and arms.

"I'm so sorry," I whispered, and then I was gone.

I called her an ambulance after I'd left the house, and that was the last I ever saw of my love.

"I'm so sorry," I whispered to her sleeping form.

"I already told you, I forgive you," she whispered back. Oh shit. She's awake.

"I hurt you."

"We both knew it would happen, Libby. I forgave you already, you know that." She moved closer to me, placing an arm across my waist.

"I called the ambulance."

"I know you did, sweetheart. Thank you," she said softly and pressed a kiss to my exposed shoulder, making my eyes flutter closed.

"What did you tell them?"

"I was attacked on the way home."

"They believed that?!"

"No. But they figured to just not ask."

"I missed you."

"Good," she giggled and moved impossibly closer. "I still hum 'Sara' whenever I plait my hair, you know?"

"You forgave me that night. I was so scared and you just set me free," I whispered, my voice breaking halfway through, as black tears spilled across us.

"I still love you."

"I'll end up hurting you again." I went to get up to leave but she pulled me back down and into her.

"That's a risk I'm willing to take, love."

And that night, we stayed curled up under the duvet, with our limbs tangled together and not a care in the world.
