Josh's POV
I woke up squinting my eyes trying to find out where I was.
"Oh thank God he's awake" said Amari's mom.
"W-what happened" I said confused.
"Sweetheart Im so sorry , but yesterday you and Amari got into a collision with a pickup truck. Thank God, you just got knocked out ,but Amari... she's not doing well." She said.
"Wait - what do you mean she's not doing well? Where's Amari? I wanna see her right now! Where is she?" I said trying to get up.
"Josh please, the doctor will be here in a few , he'll explain everything." She said as the doctor walked in.
"Ah Mr.Christopher, you're awake, that's great. Fortunately, you only walked away with a few scratches. We ran some tests on you to make sure everything was good internally , and you're good to go!" The doctor said.
"I don't give a damn about me , where is my girlfriend?" I said getting pissed off.
"She's not awake right now but she suffered a lot of injuries. As of right now , she has a concussion and is scratched up really bad. If you want to I can take you and your friends waiting outside to see her." The doctor said.
"Y-yeah take me to see here please man." I said on the verge of tears.
I don't know what I would do if I lost Amari, we were so early in our relationship; we'd just gotten started. I wanted to build a life with her. Everything about this was my fault, if I hadn't been being a dick and tried to take her phone we wouldn't be in this situation right now.
I walked out of the room and I saw Serenity balling her eyes out in Jalens arms and everyone comforting her. This is my fault. That's literally her best friend. Fuck man.
"Okay you all , follow me this way so we can go see your friend." The nurse said. We got up and followed her to Amari's room. Once we walked in , all the girls broke down.
"I -I can't be in here " Serenity said sobbing.
"Come on baby , it's okay" Jalen said walking her out.
I walked her over to her bed and broke down. "Amari , I'm so sorry, t-this should've been me. God please make us trade places." I said
"J-Josh - it's okay" Amari said lowly.
My eyes widened. "HEY- s-she's awake!!" I said causing everyone to turn around.
"Hey sweetheart, are you okay?" Amari's mom said.
"Hi mommy" Amari said causing her mom to start crying.
The doctor walked in once he heard all the commotion. "Hey sleepy head". The doctor said with a smile on his face. "How are you feeling?" He added.
"I'm good, I just want to go get in my bed, and my head is pounding" Amari said.
"That's good to hear Amari. So this is what we're going to do , I'm going to let you go home but I have some rules , not too much direct sunlight or bright lights so I suggest wearing sunglasses at all times. Not too many greasy foods because that can cause headaches as well which we don't want. And lastly, just take it easy , I suggest you being on bedrest if you don't work. We're going to prescribe some antibiotics for your concussion so that you continue to enjoy your summer!" The doctor said.
"Thank you so much for everything" Amari's mom said.
"Of course! Feel better Amari!" The doctor said leaving the room.
"How are you? Are you okay?" Amari said.
"Don't worry about me baby, this was all my fault anyway". I said wiping tears from my face.
