As for Adhira, to simply tell one who she is- she's the fictional Goddess of lightning and thunder, supposed to be a part of Hindu mythology.
A few lines from the book that can aptly describe my character:"Leaning as she sat against the thick, hard trunk of a sacred-fig tree where hard, brown vine-like constructions looped over each other, reaching out towards the sky to settle graceful dust-green leaves on its branches that spread like the arms of a dancer, a young woman sat and hummed a melody which seemed to make the trees of the island sway in synchronization.
It was her island, after all. She controlled it.When she hummed soft tunes, the trees swayed in synchronization and the bright, delicate flowers bobbed their heads up and down.
When she sang in the strongest of notes, the river rushed even stronger than it did even when the most powerful of currents occurred in the river, and every leaf danced violently as the wind rushed hard, to and fro, on the island.
When her slender fingers cut through the air to form various patterns in a physical language of magic, and she closed her eyes and deeply concentrated all her focus and power on the divine spot between her eyes, her breathing smooth and slow- then heaven and hell shook and thundered together, and broke out in a wet fury, tenebrosity overtaking the sky.
Lightning raged and cracked, the thunder rolled and burst, and the skies morphed into a deep navy backdrop, a backdrop encasing all of existence- which housed both ruthless obsidian clouds storing heavy droplets of water which fell upon the skin like a thousand tiny anvils, and bright white and yellow flashes of lethal lighting which cracked through the skies in unexpected patterns.
The wind roared and whistled, making the still creatures of the island sway strongly, this way and that.
The moving creatures in the forest hid deeply within their homes with their families huddled close to them, quiet as they watched the storms and thunder explore their island with synergy and terrific energy."
"Even the devas- the gods, and the asuras or the counterparts of the devas- the daityas, danavas, rakshasas (all the monsters), sarpas and nagas (all the serpents)- those who were aware of her hidden existence, that is- were all secretly terrified of the great wrath that the young woman- Goddess Adhira held in her hands.Power oozed from her- loads of calm and controlled power- which had become controlled after decades of practice and specific meditation routines- yet capable of causing chaotic havoc still."
"It was said that one of the most powerful- even if secret- figures on heaven, hell and earth included the young Goddess.
After all, that would be what people would pass on to each other when they would catch a glimpse of the divinely calm and controlled calamity which shone within her nonchalant, deep-set eyes which seemed to hold all the light brown soil of the earth, melted with the honey of the bees, within her orbs."And, of course, the one that's considerably close to my heart:
"It was as if all the evil residing silently and patiently in the skies would come alive and ravage everything at one loud, calm yet unspoken command of that young woman.
Such was her power."
Until the first prompt, this'll be it. Thank you.
