A/N: Hey guys I kind of switched POVs as I was writing and found it easier to write in 3rd person. So i hope you guys dont mine and if you do, I'm sorry. Happy reading.

“Did you miss me?’ he smirked, Natasha replied with a glare but his smirk stayed plastered on his face. “I’ll take this one guys”

The one with an eye patch gave an unsatisfied grunt but gestured for the other 2 agents to follow him out. She heard the door slam shut but her eyes stayed focused on the one that stayed. There was an long, uncomfortable silence before he broke it.

“So, Black Widow, there was quite the buzz around here about you. Deadly, venomous spider… Loving the code name. Where did you get it?”

“Why am I not dead?” Natasha snapped

“I’m sorry?"

“You shot me, I should be dead. Even if I wasn’t you could have killed me when I was unconscious. Why didn’t you?”

“You’re asking me why I let you live?” He chuckled, “I’d expect more of a thank you.”

“What do you want from me?” she snapped

“I don’t know Widow, you tell me.” He grabbed a chair from off to the side and sat on it backwards, his arms resting on the backside of the chair. He gave her an expecting look.

“Well… Considering you kept me alive I’m guessing it’s because you want to let me go or you want information, and since I’m not the most cooperative, I’d assume you have some nice torture scenarios in your mind.” She kept her voice monotone

He gave a smirk.

“You’re good” he mused, “So why don’t we get started?”

He reached into the folder and began scanning through the documents. Natasha arched her neck attempting to read it as well but even with her enhanced vision, the words were too small to make out from that distance.

“So who do you work for Widow?” He asked casually.

Natasha didn’t respond.

He looked up from reading the files,

“It says here you work for the KGB, Department X, Redroom-“

“I don’t work for them!” Natasha replied harshly. The words had come out before she could stop them. She quickly clamped her mouth shut but it was too late.

“Really…” He studied her, “Then who do you work for now?”

There was a long silence before Natasha answered

“I work for no one.”

The look on his face told Natasha he already knew this. He knows more than she had expected. He phrased the next question carefully.

“Why did you leave?”

No response.

“Look Natash- Nat, While you were unconscious we did some brain scans and-“

“You did what?!” she stormed

“Nat-“

Natasha pulled at the ropes that bounded her hands with tremendous force. The careless knots gave away and she pulled her arms free. Flipping herself backwards she proceeded to breaking the chair and the bounds on her legs. Then she made a beeline to the door but a strong arm grabbed her neck and forced her up against the opposite wall.

“Stop” He commanded

She let out a strangled gasp for air and kicked him in the shins. His legs buckled from underneath him and he released the hold on her neck. Suddenly the door burst open and a handful of agents stormed in each heavily armed. Their guns were all pointed at Natasha. Natasha grabbed her interrogator and put him in a headlock prepared to snap his neck.

“Widow let him go.”

“Put your hands up now.”

The shouts from the SHIELD agents only made things worst. She tightened her grip around his neck and he gave a small cry of protest.

“No it’s all right its fine.” He managed to choke out. He caught a flicker of surprise in Natasha’s eyes. “Guys everything is cool.”

The SHIELD agents appear unconvinced and unmoving but he gave them a glare reminding them of his rank. The agents slowly stepped out of the room each giving Natasha a suspicious glare. When the room was finally empty He looked up at Natasha who still held him in a death grip.

“This is rather uncomfortable. Mind letting me out?” He managed to chuckle.

Natasha gave him a dangerous glare. She could snap his neck and end his life in a second but he was… smiling?

“What do you think you’re doing?” She hissed

“What?”

“Don’t play innocent. You let me live twice now and called your backup away when I was about to break your neck. What the hell is wrong with you?” Natasha’s voice came out frustrated and confused. She didn’t understand this man at all.

“You’re saying I’m wrong because I’m nice?” He gave another sly smirk

“Oh please I’ve heard that enough times.”

“Okay fine. Well believe it or not there are actually some nice people on this planet despite what you’ve been told.”

He started slipping away from her grip and she made no effort to stop him. When he was completely out he rubbed his bruised neck and turned back to Natasha, holding an arm out.

“Let’s start over. Hi I’m Clint Barton.”

Natasha narrowed her eyes suspiciously but he showed no signs of danger. Slowly and wordlessly, she shook his hand.
