PART TWO: HINATA
KING'S CHOSEN
CHAPTER ONE
The rumors spread wider than any wildfire would, that queen Shion had been dethroned and banished from the Fire Kingdom for humiliating their dear king in front of his foreign guests. While it was too extreme of a punishment to dethrone and send the queen packing, everyone's opinion of it was jarringly positive as Shion had not been a good queen. Many were happy that their king finally rid himself of a wastrel like she.
However the king could not continue to rule without a queen by his side for from where would heirs come from? After Shion had proven how futile a sudden arranged marriage between two royals of a two different countries was, the grand queen, the king's mother, made a suggestion.
Several beautiful ripe virgins from across the land shall be gathered at the king's palace in a bid to gain his attention. It was a contest of the sorts. Whoever captured the king's heart won it and would become the queen of the Fire Nation. And so the word carried around the kingdom that their dear king was open and searching for a bride.
Naturally every virgin that was of age wanted to try her luck. Those that didn't were forced to by their relatives who began grooming them in preparation for the first selection that would be coming up in a week's time. Several miles south of the palace was a very small part of the kingdom. The people who resided there were humble and barely managing to live day by day but they were contented people.
Amongst them was a young woman whom the village named as their pride and joy. She was beautiful to behold, with skin smooth and pale like alabaster and hair long and dark like the finest silk one has ever touched. Her most unique features were her pale eyes which were often likened to twin moons gazing down on a person on a beautiful night.
Every young man in the village had tried their luck with her at one point in their lives but had gotten rejected not by the woman but by her uncle. Not one of them were suitable for his beloved niece. So when the news got to the small village everyone instantly knew that she had to contend for the king's hand along with other virgins of the land.
"If you become queen what a wonderful place our village would be!" One of the women she was sitting with, sewing clothes, gushed enthusiastically at the thought.
The woman, whose name was Hinata, only gave her a gentle smile as she stopped sewing for a moment. "There is no way his Majesty would choose the likes of me amongst the multitude of noble women in the kingdom." She replied humbly. "And besides I doubt that uncle would want me to venture into politics given how much he hates the king's ministers."
"You couldn't be more wrong dear. Iruka loves the king despite what his disposition may say about it. It is only one particular minister he detests after all." The woman disproved her notion. If Hinata had anything to say about it she could not speak because at that moment several children with faces caked with mud ran up to meet her.
