Small note, you may want to read my other story, Wild Secrets first. You can read this alone, but might be a little confused when missing the context :)

Twilight's POV

It's been around a week since we first landed in Wild's Hyrule. And a few days since the Champions Festival.

We had refused to teleport again. I had spent a full minute in the bushes after that and the others weren't far behind.

We were in the middle of the woods, Wild was taking us to his family in Zora's Domain, then to Goron Village if we have time.

Zelda, now named Flora, was traveling with us.

At the festival, she was wearing a formal outfit compared to now.

She was wearing a white cotton shirt with tears revealing the chainmail shirt underneath. Leather gauntlets covered her arms and hands. She had on a pair of Hylian Trousers and boots with flexible soles made perfect for climbing and walking over rough terrain. A black cloak was tied around her neck.

Flora reminded me of my Zelda, Dusk. And Warriors', Artemis.

She was a fighter and had a heart for adventure.

Flora led the group alongside Wild, pointing out the subtle beauties of this land that we would've have noticed otherwise.

I was on first watch when we stopped for the night.

Wild didn't climb a tree like most times, but instead clung to Flora like a child. Said woman had her knee in their gut.

Wolfie was awake. He had curled around Wild and was watching the forest as well.

As Four finally nodded off to sleep, I grabbed my Shadow Crystal and let the familiar transformation take place.

My bones rearranged. Organs vanished and were replaced with new ones. Fur sprouted from my body. And when all that was finished, I shook off the temporary dizziness and walked forward on all four legs.

Wolfie looked up at me.

"I've been meaning to talk to you." He didn't speak like a person would. Instead he communicated through ear flicks, subtle teeth bares, and the occasional growl or bark.

"Who are you?" I asked. "I mean, really?"

"I'm you." The wolf said. "Just from the future. Maybe... ten twenty years?"

"What?" I said, surprised. "How is that possible?"

He gave the wolf equivalent of a raised eyebrow. "The same reason you're currently traveling with the heroes of Hyrule's past and future and present from alternate timelines. Time travel."

"I fuckin hate time travel." I said. There wasn't really a way to say 'fuckin' in wolf but I tried and hoped he got the message.

He nodded. "The only reason I like it is so I can meet my—our—cub again."

"I thought you were Midna." I admitted. "Was kinda disappointed when you weren't."

My older self huffed a laugh.

"So... Does she ever keep her promise?"

He lowered his head. "Yes. You'll be reunited with her in a year or two. When she finds a way around the broken Mirror of Twilight."

My tail started wagging against my will. I've waited so long to see her again. I can't wait to she her face again.

"But she'll be disguised as a Hylian woman." He warned when he saw my wagging tail. "But you'll know her when you see her."

"She can't hide her flaming hair."

He nodded and we gave the wolf versions of laughs. Then, we tilted back our heads and howled together.

A sleepy howl being pulled from Wild as he clutched my older self's fur.

I tilted my head. Where'd he learn to howl so accurately?

"You raise him." The wolf read my thoughts. "When he stumbles off the Great Plateau, you find him and without a memory to his name, he'll be just a cub who needs a pack. You'll raise him."

"So it's our fault he acts like he was raised by wolves?" I asked. "Because he actually was raised by one?"

He nodded tiredly. "Unfortunately."

I looked down at the sleeping figure of my protégé. I had already felt a connection to him the moment we first ran into him.

When he killed that Yiga that first night off the Great Plateau. I had barely seen his face before he disappeared back into the shadows. His safe place before me. Then he would come to me for cuddles after a nightmare or when he just needs company.

My older self and I talked some more for the last few hours of my watch. My ears flicked at any little noise as I stood at attention even as I learned about my future.

I woke Time up for his shift then laid myself down half on top of Wild as I squeezed in between him and my older self.

And that night, I had never felt so safe.
