"Will you be okay here on your own?" Manjiro asks, helping you take the flowers and offerings out of the little wicker basket you've brought with you.
"I'll be fine" you answered, giving him a smile as his lips tugs into a small frown. Onyx eyes observing your face carefully, noting how the healthy glow it once had, has been replaced with dark circles, and cheekbones more prominent than it was before.
"Really Mikey, I'm fine, I'll go over there to you once I'm finished here"
Your fiancé stared at you for a few seconds, his fingers rubbing gentle circles at the back of your hand. Before he lifted it up to his lips and gave it a kiss. His eyes flutter shut as your heart warms at the sight.
He had changed a lot due to everything that had transpired throughout the years, his previously warm and carefree personality morphing into one that is more cold, and stoic. The death of his siblings and his close friends being one of the factors of his current persona.
However, when it comes to you, he tries his best to be as gentle and loving as he possibly can.
"Call me when you need anything" you nodded your head as he gave you a kiss before walking away. Your eyes follow his figure until he is no longer visible before turning your attention back to the tombstone in front of you.
Sitting on the blanket you laid out, you lit the candle then bringing your hands together to give your prayers. Hearing nothing but the howls of the wind blowing through the trees planted neatly around the cemetery.
Cold breeze seeps through the fabric of your coat as you finish citing your prayer, arranging the flowers on to the vase placed on each side. Sweeping away the dried leaves and carefully setting the food you brought.
"I'm sorry if I haven't visited you in a while"
You tuck your hair behind your ear as a gust of wind blows past you. Your chest tightening as you once again read the words carved into the stone in front of you.
In loving memory of Imaushi Wakasa.
It had been a year since the incident, a year since he had been killed by a spy planted by Kisaki posing as one of his gym assistants. You could still clearly remember his lifeless body lying on the floor, as blood pools around his body. His death had caused another conflict within Toman, the tension between Manjiro and Kisaki's faction only worsened.
"I hope you're doing okay wherever you are" you let out a sad smile, your hand rubbing the necklace your brother had gifted to you during your engagement party.
"You're all grown up now, but you'll still be my little cub"
You remember him saying, as he gave you a smile, pulling you into a tight embrace. Whispering how he was proud of you and everything that you have accomplished.
Fresh tears start pooling at the corner of your eyes, as painful memories start to resurface. Ones that you can never experience again.
"I-I missed you '' your voice cracks, tears rolling down your face, your hands crumpling the edges of your dress as you let out the pain that's been brewing in your chest. The pain that had been worsening everyday as you still refuse to accept the fact that your brother had already left you.
