POV: Gilgamesh

I woke up to the sun shining on my face. Oh god, not again, I thought.

The memories of last night flooded back into my mind. I'd gone out with my friend Enmerkar to celebrate our victory in conquering that piece of land next to the river. We then discussed what could be done on the land. I suggested growing some wheat so we could all have something to eat, but Enmerkar wanted to sell the land in exchange for a chicken.

Enmerkar is so weird, why would he sell a piece of land for a chicken? But that's what makes Enmerkar, Enmerkar. He is perfect just the way he is <3. [no homo]

I must've drunk a lot last night because I wasn't in the house, which is why the sun was in my face. My wife, Emma, never lets me in the house when I've had something to drink. She says it's because I break everything and hit the children, but that's not true. We don't even have children I don't know what she's talking about.

I get up from the sandy courtyard in one swift motion and dust myself off. I got up with ease because I'm a macho man, and nobody can beat me. I admire my muscles for a bit when I feel something- looking at me. I raise my head, and that's when I see it, two beady eyes watching me from inside the house. And the next second, it was gone.

I kicked the door of my lil house down, concerned about my wife's safety. how dare they break into my house- The Gilgamesh's house? I rush into the house, to find my wife perfectly calm, laying on the floor.

"BABE WE NEED TO GET OUT THERE'S SOMEONE IN THE HOUSE!" I yelled, fearing that she was injured.

"YOU STUPID BITCH THAT WAS ME YOU'RE STILL SO DRUNK GET OUT OF THE HOUSE." The love of my life, Emma, yelled back.

"Oh." I said, dumbfounded at my dumbness.

Emma proceeded to hurl more insults at me, but it's fine because I love her. I tell her I love her and I head to the market to buy some food to eat because Emma refused to make food for me.

On the way to the market, I found the carving guy carving something into his clay tablet.

"Goodmorning Clay Man! How's everything going?" I said, a little too enthusiastically for someone who hasn't had breakfast.

"Oh, magnificent! I just got the best headline for today's news. I'm going to make so much money!!!" The clay man replied.

"That is so nice I am so happy for you. You deserve the best." I said to the Clay Man and left on my merry way. The entire time I was thinking about what I would eat, but I ended up eating everything.

When I got home after eating the entire market, Emma refused to look me in the eye.

"What's wrong babe?" I said, obviously worried.

She looked up at me, with tears threatening to spill from her eyes any moment know.

"Is- is it true?" She managed to choke out.

"What is true?" I said, slightly panicking because my wife looks sad.

On receiving no answer, I look around the room, hoping for some indication that would give me a clue on understanding, and that's when my eyes caught sight of the thick, brown slab on the table.

I picked up the tablet, a little perplexed, and began reading.

BREAKING NEWS!!!! GILGAMESH AND ENMERKAR WERE SPOTTED IN URUK DRINKING AND CHATTING TOGETHER! IS THIS AN AFFAIR BLOOMING???!!

WHAT IS GOING ON??????!!!!!
