"Get up." Lando yelled at me. I was just laying on my bed staring at the ceiling. Not really showing my excitement I actually have right now. I'm gonna be at a Formula 1 Race Weekend for the first time ever to support my older brother. I only watched him karting when he was younger and had only seen a few F1 races on TV but never had the time to attend one, since I was busy with school. But now I just graduated and I can finally be free.
I crawled out of my bed, strolling inside the bathroom to take a shower and get ready. Once I came out of the bathroom, Lando was stressing me again. "We're gonna be late, we gotta drive right now, I'm serious" he said. "Just get the car already, I'll be quick." I said, while I put on white sneakers which look pretty good with my flowery dress. Lando grabbed the keys from the kitchen counter and walked out of the door. I put my hair into a messy bun and rushed back into my bedroom to get my phone and my purse. I turned off all the lights before leaving the hotel.
"Wow, I can't believe we're here it looks awesome!" I said astonishingly. "I know right. Thank you for being here by the way. Means a lot to have support by my side at my home race." Lando looked at me. "Hopefully it will turn out great for you big bro." I smiled. As we walked through the paddock gate, Lando already greeted some of the drivers. They also said hello to me. Arriving at the McLaren Motorhome i met Daniel for the first time. Gotta love his smile. I also said hello to the engineers and strategists. They were all very kind and treated me like I've met them before.
Only 1 more hour before the race starts. You could feel the tension building up inside the garage and I also felt more excited every minute. Since Lando secured himself P5 in Qualifying, I was optimistic that he can at least keep that position if not snatch a podium. The garage was pretty loud, everyone was talking and I was just standing by Lando's side with headphones looking at some data which I didn't understand at all. At least I was trying to figure it out. Eventually his race engineer tapped his shoulder to tell him he should put on his helmet to get into the car. Only a few minutes left before the race would start. Everyone lined up on the grid and the teams quickly ran of the track before the formation lap would start. The light went out and the cars started driving. I was extremely nervous. After they've done the formation lap, it was getting more serious. The lights went out again and now it's race time. It all went pretty smoothly at first until Turn 9. Hamilton and Verstappen crashed and Max went on into the barriers. I could hear the gasps in the garage. My eyes widened and I was hoping he is okay. He eventually got out of the car and I felt relieved. Max and I knew each other when he raced with Lando back in the karting days. They were good friends. I had a major crush on him back then but it obviously never worked out because firstly I was too young and secondly because he never really noticed me. Haven't seen him in person ever since. He has a girlfriend anyway.
The rest of the race worked out really well. Lando P4 and Daniel P5. I was so proud of my big brother to do so well in his home gp. Even though a podium would be better. When he came back into the garage he ran towards me, picked me up and swung me around himself. "Landooooo. You did it. I'm so proud of you." "Thanks, sissy, I knew with the right support I could drive better." he said with a wide smile.
