And it was as true as it could ever be. The world had turned, changed forever, billions of lives flipped upside down in a war that will no doubt go down in the history books. Five years ago, half the world disappeared in what they called "The Blip". Only mere months ago, The Avengers brought back everyone in the same way they'd gone, with the Infinity Stones.
Thanos, a mad purple Titan, had used these stones to "restore balance to the universe" by essentially removing half of all living beings from the universe. This not only affected Earth, but hundreds of other planets across the galaxies.
Five years after this, The Avengers created a plan to travel through time and bring everyone back. It was difficult and very risky, but they managed to succeed and return everyone to their respective worlds. But... not everything went according to plan, they were compromised and Thanos from 2014 returned to set war on Earth. The only way to save everyone was for another being to snap their fingers...
It was a traumatic experience for The Avengers and family, not knowing if their saviour had died after snapping, or if he'd ever wake up. There were some shaky few weeks after this where his family never left his bed side, hoping and praying for their son to wake up.
There had been a short minute after his snap where he'd just looked around at what he'd done before passing out. He hadn't awoken since and it wasn't for sure if he ever would, or if his injuries were permanent or not. For the first several days, his heart had taken so long in between beats that his doctors had nearly declared him dead. After that, the beats started becoming more frequent and eventually a steady rhythm took place of the old one.
Hope sparked in the hearts of his friends and family, hope that he'd be okay, even if it took some time.
During this time, much had happened. The world started to rebuild itself, crime rates were higher than ever, people started new lives, heroes left old ones behind to begin something different, and so on.
But of course, our saviour knew none of this. He didn't know this would all impact his life when he woke up, didn't know of his close friends leaving without being able to say goodbye, didn't know of his family's grief.
He'd learn when he woke up... if he ever did that.
