Minho gritted his teeth as he heard the words that the doctor spoke. He was annoyed how cocky the man could still be, even when faced with heavy artillery and already having lost the fight in theory. Minho took a step forward, wanting to get his friend back as soon as possible, and he wasn't afraid to personally fight this doctor. But he was pushed back by the police officers around him, getting told that they would take care of the situation. Minho couldn't take his eyes off of the doctor, wanting to follow his every move in case he was going to try something that might hurt Chan even more. The police officer at the front of their group loaded his gun, approaching the doctor slowly. "We demand you to put down your weapon and step away from the boy. We have surrounded the whole building and you have no chance at escaping. If you try to go against us, we will have to shoot." The doctor chuckled darkly, pushing Chan aside with his foot a bit. Chan was still unresponsive, making Felix worry about his well-being. The doctor tilted his head, taking in the group of police officers. "I've fought hard for this laboratory. I threw away my life, my relatives, my everything. I totally indulged in this amazing project, and you're here to ruin it all? Come on, I'm sure we can make a deal. The government is in need of good fighters, right? Look at that boy in your middle. He can turn into a cat, do you know what that means? He could sneak past the enemy without any suspicion, he could listen in on conversations, he could scratch their eyes out and leave without a trace."
The police officer took another step forward, acting as if he didn't hear the doctor at all. "I ask you again. Put down the gun, step away from the boy and surrender yourself." The doctor gripped his gun, pointing it at Chan as he felt ignored. How could they not be interested in his incredible discovery? Felix gasped softly as he saw the doctor point the gun at Chan. "Please no.. please don't shoot.." Felix whispered to himself, but Hyun had heard it, tightening his grip on Felix even more. The doctor took a deep breath, looking directly into the eyes of the police officer. "Well if you won't take it, then nobody will. I am the only one who knows the exact formula for the DNA injections, I'm the only one who knows how to make those freaks into trained lethal weapons. So without me, this whole experiment will never be of a benefit to the government." The doctor looked down as Chan had started to wake up, groaning softly as his whole body ached. The police officer took a few steps forward in that moment, hoping to catch the doctor at an unguarded moment, but the doctor pointed his gun at the police officer. "STAY AWAY! This boy is mine and you will never get to him when I'm alive!" The police officer stopped immediately, but still kept a close eye on the both of them. The doctor grew more and more enraged as he really felt pushed into a corner, the options for the consequences of his actions not being to his liking at all, and getting smaller with every second that passed. Looking at Hyun, the doctor's smile turned pure evil and with spite. "I never should've let you escape. I should've killed you when I had the chance to."
Chan opened his eyes, confused about where he was, feeling the cold ground beneath him. Turning his head slightly, he got blinded by the harsh light coming from the ceiling, seeing a figure loom over him. The doctor glanced at Chan, getting frantic about doing something. Taking a look at the police officers, the doctor then quickly bend down, grabbing Chan's face to make him look at him. "You would've been my second succesful experiment. I could've made you such a wonderful murderous beast." Chan whined softly as the grip of the doctor hurted him, looking at the man as he didn't understand what he did to ever deserve this. Minho and Felix looked at the whole situation in fear, and Felix almost lost it as the doctor then put the tip of the gun against Chan's forehead. "No please! Let him go! You've done enough damage!" The doctor screamed out in anger, hating to hear Felix's voice. "SHUT UP! NOBODY FEELS THE WAY I DO! NOBODY UNDERSTANDS MY GENIUS INVENTION!" At that moment, it felt like time went twice as fast as normal. The doctor lashed out at the police officers with his arm, making them back up a few steps, and before they could do anything else, a gunshot was heard. Blood spattered across the floor, a body falling limp on the cold tile. Felix burst into tears, Minho not believing his eyes at what had just happened right in front of them. The group of police officers quickly ran over to the scene, blocking the view of the three young males, who were left in confusion for a while longer.

Hyun clung onto Felix, his face buried in the smaller male's shoulder. Felix stroked Hyun's back, knowing how conflicted he must be feeling. Going from one place with doctors to another, and not knowing the difference between them, can be confusing and terrifying. Felix had been there the whole time during Hyun's checkup, holding his hand and encouraging him that everything would be alright. Luckily Hyun walked away pretty unharmed, with advice from the doctor to eat a lot, but not too much at once. Minho sighed, glancing at the clock once more as they had been waiting on the uncomfortable hospital bench for a while now. Looking over at Felix and Hyun, Minho pouted. "Why are they taking so long?" Felix shrugged as he turned his head to look at Minho. "I don't know." Both of them jumped up as the door in front of them swung open, a nurse stepping out to inform them about what was next. "You can see him now." Felix nodded eagerly, pulling Hyun up with him. "Come on, nobody here will hurt you. There's nothing to be afraid of." Minho waited for a moment until Felix and Hyun followed the nurse first, but right when he wanted to walk after them, his phone rang. Minho quickly picked up as he saw who it was. "Yes, hi babe. Yeah.. yeah we've been here for a long time but we can go see him now. The nurse just came to get us. Yes, thank you. I'll call you later okay? Love you too, Jisung." Minho hung up and stuffed his phone back into his pocket, catching up with the others to walk down yet another long hospital hallway.
The nurse guided the three boys into a room, where Chan was sitting on a hospital bed. Felix let out a sigh of relief at the sight of him, happy that he was unharmed as well. Chan smiled gently at them, opening his arms as Hyun came dashing at him, hugging him tightly when the younger almost jumped into his embrace. "I'm here. No need to worry. I just have a little bit of a fever and malnutrition." Felix pursed his lips slightly, walking closer and shaking his head. "Don't say that. We are still worried. A fever can still turn out to be life-threatening." Chan chuckled and reached out his hand to Felix, who took it and held it tightly. "I'm glad you guys came to get us. If it was for just an hour longer, I think I would be in much worse conditions." Minho watched the whole thing from a distance, being content that Chan was okay, but not feeling the need to get all clingy and touchy. He bit his lip, thinking back to their conversation with the police. "Well if the police wouldn't have believed us, we wouldn't be there at all. We were just lucky that there had been other reports from escaped experiments, otherwise they would've sent us to a shrink." Chan chuckled softly, kissing Hyun's head as the younger was still tightly clinging onto him. "Well it's all over now. Although, I don't really have the feeling of justice. I would've rather had that that doctor went to jail and sat out the punishment he deserved." Felix nodded, agreeing with Chan. "Yeah.. But that's not possible now. He shot himself to avoid having to go through all that."
Chan closed his eyes, a shiver going down his spine as he got a flashback to the moment it happened. "Let's leave it all behind us now. I don't want to be reminded of it." Felix hummed, smiling apologetically to Chan. "Sorry. I know it must be horrible to see that in front of you." Felix took a deep breath, letting go of Chan's hand and looked at Hyun and Minho. "Shall we go home? I think the hospital won't hold you here for much longer. And the police did their investigating." Minho nodded, wanting to go home as well. "Yeah let's go." Hyun made a small sound, lifting his head up to look at Chan and the other two. "But.. Chan will be different now. Not as different as me but.. different." Felix furrowed his eyebrows. "What do you mean, Hyun?" Hyun bit his lip, looking at Chan as he wasn't sure if he should tell them. "Chan got animal DNA injected into him, but not enough to alter his DNA like mine. But just enough to.. alter it a little?" Hyun looked down, trying to think of how to explain it. "His senses are different. More like the animal that he got the DNA from." Chan stroked Hyun's back, nodding to confirm what he was saying. "That is true. The uhm.. the nurses found some wolf DNA in my blood. And, ever since the first injection that they gave me.." Chan looked at Felix and Minho. "I can smell, see, hear, feel more. And it's been hard. Every little sound is amplified and the smells I uhm.." Chan shook his head, chuckling softly. "Let's just say I smelled things that I thought I would never smell from a certain distance." Felix's eyes widened at this new information. "Really? But that's so cool! It's like a superhero." Chan hummed and shook his head once more. "It doesn't feel like that though. It still hurts too much sometimes." Hyun perked up, squeezing softly in Chan's arm. "I'll teach you. It doesn't hurt for me anymore." Chan looked at Hyun, smiling at him. "That would be amazing Hyun. You're the expert of it after all." Minho took a deep breath, changing his stance into a more ready to go one. "Well come on then. Let's go home and adjust back to normal life." Felix stepped aside to make room for Chan, Hyun getting up and helping Chan get off of the bed. Chan took Hyun's hand as they walked out of the hospital, happy that it all turned out well.
