The deep and rich smell of fresh brewed coffee filled Maude's room. She sat up in bed sleep still in her eyes, 7:00 read the dim red glow of her alarm clock. She slid her legs over the side of the bed. Barefoot she walked over to her mirror hanging of her closet door. She looked at her self with messy auburn hair, drowsey green eyes, and pale skin. When Maude was younger around elemetry school age, she was teased and bullied for her body and how she looked. Broad shoulders, a saggy and big breasted chest, strech marks on her stoumach, legs and thighs. But as much as those kids made her want to hate herself. Maude refused, she has always known her worth. Was she always confident? No she has her own insecurites, but it dosen't stop her from being who she is. After looking at body for about five minutes, she has to remind herself looks do not define her. Moving slowley she made her way to the bathroom down the hall. The apartment was small, the kitchen and living room connected by the front door leading into the two rooms. The kitchen consisted of a stove, a tall skinny fridge, and a small counter that folded out into a bar. The living room wasn't any bigger it consited of one loveseat that reclied but only one side worked and a 20" TV sat in a stand agisnt the oppisite wall. As Maude walked closer to the bathroom, the faint sound of static came from the radio on top of the fridge. "Curious" the confusion clear in her tired voice. She clicked off the radio by turning the volume all the back till she heard a click. Robin must be having issues at the station she thought and shrugged off the strange occurrence. "102.8 FM Best of the 70s" never had static or any issues. Robin a young woman who worked as the host on the station. Maude's father Oliver Myers stared the radio station with his best friend Steve Vampshed. Her grandmother Odette Myers (Oliver's mother) first open and ran a music shop filled with every and any instrument you could think of. Soon later vinyls became a huge leap for the industry so obviously Odette became obsessed, Oliver not so much. The little boy was more interested in wires and lamps, about how they worked. He was a tinker he loved breaking things and putting them back together. After a few years after the release of records the store's business was so successful. Oliver got a full ride to MTI. Soon he came back home and with came Steve his roommate, an expert in radios. Along with his mother Oliver and Steve created a business right down the street a radio station. "102.8" was the line they got. They named the place "Odette's". Everything was perfect. Then the story continues with Steve meeting a girl knocked her up and she left him with a baby named Robin. About five years later Maude was born to Oliver and Florence, a girl who had come to the shop over 50 times with a broken radio just to see him. Florence wanted to rush into a quick marriage. Oliver, so deeply and utterly in love obliged. He came home and ran to his mother excited with news about the wedding Odette disagreed. Broken Oliver left with so much anger he ran away with Florence and eloped. Two years had passed Steve and Odette worried Oliver would never come back but on November 17th 1981. He showed up a baby in his arms and in his back pocket divorce papers signed and settled. As Odette opened the door Oliver could only think of how she hated him. When Odette saw her soon and her new baby granddaughter. She simply opened the door wide and said calmly "you're bedroom is clean, and I'll run out for a crib" after all he was her son he was family.
