Didn't wanna want you
Beca crashes onto the bed next to Chloe making Chloe jump from her side of the bed slightly. They spent the last week packing their Brooklyn apartment into boxes. All those packing acted like a buffer for their impending separation.
Beca lies down on her side facing Chloe. "You know when I sleep on a different bed and in a different state tomorrow." Beca paused and let out a sigh. "I'm gonna have a real hard time accepting the fact you won't be there with me."
Chloe does the same and turns to her side to face Beca. "Beca Mitchell are you going all sentimental on me right now?"
"What if I am? I mean, can you blame me? It's our last night here. God can you believe it? Our last night here. Where the hell did the time go?"
Chloe lets out a soft sigh of her own. "Yeah. It went by quick."
"It feels like it was only yesterday that we got back from the tour. But I'm still glad we got some time for ourselves before everything... happens."
Beca doesn't know what's in store for her in the next few months. All she knows for certain is that she won't be living with Chloe anymore and that Theo is going to pick her up in the morning.
Chloe reached out to Beca and squeezed her arm to get her attention. She waited for Beca to look at her.
"You okay? Are you nervous? LA is everything you've ever dreamed of. You're gonna be great."
"Well almost everything. The only thing missing in LA is you but that's okay. We're not that far away from each other. At least we're still in the same state."
Beca leaned in and closed her eyes to give Chloe a kiss like she's done a hundred times before. There were just some things that you couldn't put to words.
But Chloe turned away. "Bec wait."
Beca opened her eyes a bit surprised. Chloe's never rejected her before. "What is it?"
"I have something important to tell you and I've been delaying it but it's our last night here, so it's now or never. And I don't know why I couldn't just bring myself to tell you this. I just don't know how you're going to take it and the last thing that I want is for you to hate me or resent me. I can't take that. I just wanted to enjoy our last month here."
"Chloe breathe. It's okay. Nothing you can say to me will ever make me resent or hate you. That's ridiculous. I could never. Whatever it is just tell me."
"Okay." Chloe takes deep breaths and sighs. "I promise I wanted to tell you sooner."
Beca gives Chloe a look and stops her from going on another ramble. Chloe looks away again. This was unusual territory for Beca. It was usually the other way around with Beca the one rambling and avoiding Chloe's gaze.
"Okay fine. So shortly after I found out I got into UC Davis, I received my acceptance letter from Cornell University. I got in to Cornell as well and I decided to go there. Their campus is in Ithaca."
"Oh. Wow. That's great. No that's amazing." Beca let that thought sink in. "So you're staying here in New York..." Beca said mostly to herself.
"Well... Ithaca to be exact."
Beca is nodding with her mouth hanging slightly open deep in thought.
"So yeah." Chloe said.
Beca was still spacing out.
"Say more words please?" Chloe asked. "Are you mad?"
"I'm not. I'm just doing the calculations in my head. We'll work something out, okay? It's just a three hour time difference." Beca's head was still reeling but she tried to look calm on the outside for whose sake she wasn't sure. "We can handle that."
