I entered my room with a towel around my neck, catching the water droplets as they dropped from my hair. Still steaming from the shower, I plopped on to my bed. It wasn't a luxurious house, in the middle of the woods and all, but it had hot water and its privacy. As well as a haunting rumor that the one and only Slenderman lurked through the trees, abducing all who would dare trespass. Well, let me clarify, that he'll get you even if you've never been in the woods.
I rolled over onto my side and looked on to my wall. Hanging from a single thumbtack, was the picture of my 'hero'. "Hero, huh. Yeah, I can see it." I said as I pulled myself to my feet.
I ran a nail down the uneven lines and smiled. Not everyone could say their father was Slenderman, and I think most wouldn't want to. Me, I didn't mind the idea. But, it wasn't always this way.
Years ago, I remember having an actual family. A mother and a father. Though it's hazy, I remember mother holding me, running past the trees into the woods. Drenched in sweat, she called behind her to father to hurry up. They were running from something, but I don't remember what. Time to time, she would look down at me, and try to keep me quiet. Her green eyes glassy and red from tears. She pulled me close, and whispered something before laying me in the grass. Placing a blanket over me, I could hear as she and her husband ran in a different direction.
After crying for a few minutes, there was a slight rustle. My blanket was removed, and that was the first time I saw him. I didn't cry, I didn't scream. Instead, I smiled up at him. Reaching my arms up to him, I laughed. He picked me up with one of his arms, and carried me back here, to my home. Growing up, I was afraid of him. But, after time, I grew to accept him. He was my father and I his daughter.
I felt a hand rest on my shoulder and I turn around to find Daddy standing behind me. I quickly turned, so he couldn't see my tears. But I wasn't fast enough. He turned my face, and wiped the flowing tears. "I'm okay..." I mumbled.
I felt his grip loosen, and when I turned back around, I found he was gone.
I sat down on the edge of my bed, and fell backwards. School was in the morning, I should get some sleep. "Good night, Dad!" I yelled into toward the doorway.
I knew I wouldn't hear a response, but I knew he was saying it back.
