a/n Got a little busy and lost motivation for this story but I'm back :))) This chapter is a short, didn't really know what to write after this scene so I just cut this one short

"Oh come on, Owen. It can't be that bad." It was. It was that bad. Owen felt like his legs were going to give up at any moment.

"Honey, lovebug, sweetcheeks-

"Sweetcheeks?"

"- this is the equivalent to hell. I have not done any sort of activity in years...well unless you count sex. That can get strenuous." he watches her cheeks turn red as she turns away. Cute.

Something catches his eyes and he groans in relief, "Bench. Sit. Please." Without waiting for an answer he drags Mei over to the bench while she tries not to trip over her horse sized dogs.

"Owen, we've only been walking for forty-five minutes." she giggles as she plops down beside me.

Forty-five minutes? That's all? Oh God, he really needed to start working out more.....nope not going to happen. Owen had soft muscles, nothing defined like the other guys. He also had some chub around his stomach that he very much loved. He was perfectly content with the way he looked.

"That's forty-five minutes too long." he looked over at her with a smile, "But I enjoy spending time with you so it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make."

"Well to thank you for the honorable sacrifice," Ooo someone has an attitude, he couldn't wait to tell Richard, "how about I buy you some coffee and a muffin for your servitude." Mei innocently blinks her eyes up at him. Fucking adorable.

With an exaggerated groan he stands from the bench. "Fine, I accept your payment," A sly grin crosses his face, "Although, I can think of another way you could thank me."

Mei stares at him with wide eyes, mouth opening and closing clearly at a loss of words.

"Oh well, you lost the chance to get a piece of this," he gestures to his body, "but you offered food, and I will never say no to free food."

While they walked through the park he couldn't help but be completely mesmerized by her. All the guys were. It had been a week since their conversation. Nothing much had changed, but he could see how Mei had blossomed under their affection. She wasn't as nervous as she used to be, nor was she afraid of saying what she wanted. It made his heart melt.

Ten minutes later they walked into a cute coffee shop. The two dogs clung to either side of Mei. Owen pouted slightly at the fact that Hades still, in fact, did not like him. Never had he met an animal that didn't like him.

"Go find us a seat and I'll surprise you, okay?"

"No problem shortcake." With a smile after hearing her grumble about not being short, which she was, Owen found a spot in the corner.

Looking around he took a moment to appreciate the little shop. Fake moss with little flowers in it hung across the perimeter of the ceiling. Exposed brick walls gave the room a homey feeling. He really liked it.

"So I got you a caramel cappuccino with chocolate and caramel drizzle. I also got a triple chocolate muffin."

Mei sat down in front of him with an excited smile. It slipped slightly when he didn't do anything but stare. Because how could he? Mei knew how much he loved chocolate even though Richard was a health nut and bullied everyone into eating healthy. She knew that a cappuccino with extra everything was his favorite without him ever telling her. It was then he knew he loved her. It didn't matter that he had only known her for about three months. To Owen it was simple.

"I love you." Then it was her turn to be silent. She looked stunned, cheeks turning impossibly pink.

Owen knew it was probably too soon. But he was not one to dance around the truth, he was almost as bad as Richard. Not wanting Mei to feel pressured to say anything he quickly changed the subject with ease.

"Ya know Richard is going to be in a fuss when he realizes I not only had chocolate in my pancakes but now in a muffin and my coffee."

Blinking a few times she laughed softly, still clearly out of it by his confession, "Yea, he definitely will."

Owen bit into the muffin and moaned, "Oh God this is so good, you need to try this." Practically shoving the thing in her face Mei's eyes widened before taking a small bite.

She closed her eyes and hummed, nodding her head. "Really good." Her eyes widened excitedly, "I could make this at-"

"Professor?"

Owen turned to see one of his students, Kinsley. With a polite smile he turned to her, "Hello Kinsley."

Kinsley looked towards Mei for a moment before focusing her attention on him. "I've never seen you come here before."

He kept his smile light trying to hide his discomfort, Owen tried to avoid seeing his students, or anyone from work, out in public at all costs. While he was passionate about his work and teaching, he was not very big on being social. The only time he truly felt comfortable was within his home or around his loved ones.

"It's my first time actually. Mei over here," He deliberately grabbed her hand on the table, "wanted to show me this place."

Kisnley's eyes snapped over to her. Surprisingly Mei looked confident as she squeezed my hand and smiled. An uncomfortable feeling started to build as she said, "Oh, that's wonderful," her voice sounded anything but nice, "I thought you didn't have a girlfriend."

Owen froze. Anxiety washed over him as her inquisitive eyes never left him. He hated this, hated the feeling that people were judging him, hated that he didn't want anyone to see his naturally bubbly self or know anything about his life. What was he going to do? He had already been sitting there for an embarrassingly long time-

"He's my boyfriend." His lungs seized in his chest as he watched Mei. Looking down at her phone her eyes widened but he could tell it was all for show. "Oh God, it's that time. Baby, we're gonna be late if we don't leave now." She turned to Kinsley, who looked rather annoyed, "It was nice meeting you Kinsley."

With that she wrapped his half eaten muffin in napkins and shoved it into her bag. Grabbing his coffee he stood from the chair and followed Mei. They walked in silence before Owen spoke again.

"So...Baby huh?" He smirked as she sputtered for an answer. "You know, what you did back there was hot as fuck right?"

Mei huffed a laugh as her hands clenched the leashes of Hades and Loki. "That was the scariest thing I have ever done in my life." She looked half scared, half amazed, like she couldn't believe what she just did.

Loki whined giving notice to her, raising anxiety. Owen wrapped an arm around her shoulders and leaned his head on hers.

"How about we go home and annoy Richard before his class."

With a relieved smile she looked at him with those pretty brown eyes he loved so much. "Sounds like fun."
