In The End

I'm sitting on my blue couch curled up in a warm soft blanket that smells like detergent, the curtains are open and the window is slightly cracked, I can feel the misty air and the smell of wet dirt fills my nostrils telling me it's raining outside, as I hold a cup of peach tea I take a sip and let the warmth and sweetness embrace me and let my mind free. I remember my very first day of university as if it was yesterday.

It was the middle of September in a small town in Alberta Canada, it wasn't very cold yet; I was wearing navy blue skinny jeans and a striped red and white shirt that hung loosely over my petite figure. I have always been very tiny, back then my hair went down to my hips, my hair has always been very messy with loose curls and a very light brown that almost looks auburn in the sun, my skin is pale ivory and my eyes are blue with a yellowish center, I am very short 5'4 to be exact. My name is Elizabeth Sage and this is the story of how my life changed.

I closed the door of my dorm room and sat in my bed and stared blankly at the yellow colored wall, my mum had just left from dropping me off and the only thing that played back and forth in my head was the thought that I refused to make friends or get close to anybody, I just wanted to finish as soon as possible and get started with my life. I was studying to be a nurse; I had known that I wanted to be a nurse since I can remember. I stared into nothingness I'm not sure how long till the sound of my grumbling stomach awoke me from my thoughts, I looked at my watch 12:16 it read, just in time for lunch at the cafeteria. I got up from my bed glanced at myself in the mirror and started walking towards the Cafeteria. I walked up to the line and got mashed potatoes corn and a sandwich I made my way to the first table I saw with the tray in my hands I sat down and started to eat as I took in my surroundings, I spotted a guy who caught my attention; tall, well-built, tan skin, green eyes, dark brown messy hair, and a smile much more brilliant then mine, I hadn't realized I was staring till I noticed a dark haired girl sitting in front of me.

"Hello, my name is Victoria you can call me Vicky" she said in a mouse like voice.

"Umm hey, I'm Elizabeth you can umm call Elizabeth" I said, in my usual awkward way and went back to staring at Mr. Perfect. Victoria I mean Vicky noticed who I was staring at.

"That's Connor Meyer" she said with a grin "He is rich; like very rich his dad is a lawyer and his mother is a very important psychologist, ironically they think that they can buy their son's affection, at least that's what I have heard. He's a player though, takes nothing seriously, drinks a little too much and thinks too highly of himself. He is in his third year of accountancy." She said as if she had said it a thousand times before.

"I take it this isn't your first year here then" I said not wanting to talk about Connor.

"Yeah, I'm actually graduating this year I'm going to be the best teacher in the world" she said a little too over enthusiastically.

"That's awesome, it's been nice talking to you Victoria I mean Vicky I'll see you around okay?" I said paying little attention to Victoria as I gathered my things and lifted my self out of my chair.

"But you haven't even touched your food" She said, her voice going an octave higher.

"Uh, yeah not hungry, see your around okay?" I said sounding a little colder then I wanted to.

I headed back to my room thinking about how university was not the place for me, and how attractive Connor was. I allowed myself to think about him because I knew I had no chance with him what so ever.

I got there on a Friday and the first day of classes was Monday, my weekend passed uneventful mostly because I only left my room to go eat. I had only been there for three days and I could already tell that people didn't like me; I could tell by the way people looked at me and I overheard two girls calling me a bitch. It was a very small university so I was sure it was Victoria who had started the rumor, she seemed over communicative anyways. I didn't mind in fact I never have, if people talk about me it's because they don't take the time to get to know me.

As soon as school started I buried myself in school work, I hadn't really talked to anybody except for a nerdy engineer student named Melvin who hung out with me during lunch time, he was really easy to hang out with because he didn't care if I had nothing to say. One day; it had been about three weeks since we I was at the university; Melvin hadn't shown up to come eat with me so I went to the cafeteria alone, I sat down on the only empty table I found and I was poking at my pizza, when I felt someone's eyes on me, I looked up to see two green eyes staring down at me, it was Conner Meyer staring directly at me I looked up at him and then looked down and continued playing with my pizza nervously.

"I hear you're a bitch" He said, and somehow I wasn't surprised that he would say something like that.

"I hear you're a player, and besides if I'm such a bitch why are you talking to me?" I said with half a grin on my face.

"I am a player, and I'm talking to you because you have a nice ass, and because I've seen the way you look at me" He said with a wink making me blush, I was about to snap at him and storm out of the cafeteria when I realized that was exactly what he wanted me to do, that or act like a slut but that wasn't going to happen I'm a decent girl.

"Look, I know how this goes, I get mad at you, you keep bothering me, sexual tension starts to build till you get in my pants, you may want that but I don't." I said. He gave me a huge grin.

"Look baby, you can't help the inevitable" And with that He got up and left.
