I walked swiftly down the road as the gentle wind blew my hair. I listen to the birds sing their joyous songs and watched as the leaves danced the waltz with the wind. I look over the hill a bit as I come closer to my safe place. I listen for the gentle sounds of the life giving water. I walk faster as I see my river and smile gently when I see it shimmer in beauty. As I get closer and closer, I hear the beautiful river whisper my name. I sit beside the running water and touch the cool water with my fingertips. I feel alive here. I stay for a bit longer before the sun sets. I waved goodbye to the river and I hear my name being said gently. I smile as I trudge home.

I rush by in a happy tone as I wait for my girl to visit me as she does every day. I see her running towards me...Odd...she never does this; I always see her gently put her feet one in front of the other to the ground. Today however she seems upset. I whisper her name a bit louder today. She looks at me with water running from her ocean blue eyes. I've never seen her do this...As she sits beside me, she sniffles a bit and more water from her eyes dripped onto my own. I whisper her name over and over wanting her to touch me with her soft hands. Instead, she stands and looks down at me with pain seeping through her eyes. She closes her eyes...and falls into me. I become startled and splash a bit but I bring her to the life giving air. I push her fragile body to the shore... She gets up and looks at me...
"Do you love me my river?" she whispers.
"Of course I do..." I reply.
"Then let me be with you forever..."
"No..." I say. "I won't let you. You're meant to be on the shore for a while longer. You will know when it's your time to join the river..."
She lets more and more water flow from her eyes, but she smiles and thanks me. She kneels down close to me and kisses me with her soft lips that smell of flowers and the ocean...She gets up smiling after and walks away... I whisper her name once more before she turns and bids me goodbye. I love my girl...
