AUTHORS NOTE; taken place after blood of Olympus and during the golden trios sixth year. I have taken my liberties as the author of a fictional piece based on other fictional works and allowed myself to ignore timelines all together.

Together, they watch all the nervous little first years file into the great hall. The three of them tuned out the welcoming speech for the first years, as did most of the upper class men. He clapped when it was appropriate to and cheered along with his house when the sorting finally started. Some names, Draco found that he could recognize. Families as old as his own, most just as entitled.
As the night reached a point where the first years could sit comfortably, buzzing with excitement, and the teachers at the head table let their posture and intimidation factors slip, their buzz fueled by that mornings coffee and what ever they had chosen to drink this evening; Dumbledoor started another speech.
Apparently from a ton of recent monster attacks, the school was bring in a young auror. This was responded with a sudden amount of chatter. You could say Draco hated the idea. Some freaky scar faced wizard who acts like the world owes them something. The auror in question would show up some time that night or the next and would be sorted in with the other students.
Dinner passed quickly, as it usually did, and soon enough the first years were being escorted out by the prefects. Draco made his way out of the hall and slipped pass the group of younger kids, catching the password in his stride. "Pure Blood." 'How original' he thought. He made a b-line for his room, and jumped on his bed, kicking his shoes off as he did.
Draco found it to be one of the nights, where for no reason other than pure bad luck (topped off with a bit of anxiety for the following year) sleep did little but taunt him. He lay there for what seemed like hours with no luck. Looking around, it was clear that no one else in his dormitory struggled with the same current problem. With a stifled groan, the blonde rolled off of his bed and decided he might as well go for a walk.
He light up his wand and made his way out of the dungeons. Once through the secret entrance, Draco knew he was home free. Wandering aimlessly down the grand halls, Draco found himself appreciating the details that surrounded him. The intricate tangle of the rafters, the exquisite patterns carved into the wooden railings and siding, the abstract swirls of stain imprinted on the floor. During the day, it was always too rushed for one to be able to absorb anything of the sorts, with the people pushing passed you and the ever turning clock ready to tell you you're late to class. Of course in the middle of the night, there wasn't much detail you could see, let along take in. The dark was thick, only broken by the light of the moon, engulfed most of the room, and only seemed to slowly grow. Actually, it grew pretty fast. Draco immediately drew his wand as fear and confusion pulsed through him, setting off warning sirens in his head. A feeling of dread grew along with the shadows as they condensed, growing thicker still into, a person.
