When He Returned

Chapter 2- The Party

It's almost five and some people have started to arrive and the closer it gets to Andrew coming home the more anxious and nervous I get, even though I know he is goin to be so excited to see me and I will be the same way with him I am nervous that there will be some sort of awkwardness between us since we have been together in the past few months. "No, he loves me and I love him so nothing is going to change between us unless I make it that way." I tell myself as time gets even closer.
"Emma? Are you okay you look like your just staring off in space." My brother says after looking at while I was in my thoughts.
"Huh, oh yeah I'm great just a little.." He cuts me off knowing exactly what to say when I don't want to tell him
"You're just excited to see Andrew and you just want everything to be perfect before he gets here." He says squeezing my shoulder to let me know everything is going to be okay.
"Thanks, what is mom doing? I need to talk to her." I actually do need to talk to her about something that only she will understand.
"She is in the kitchen finishing some last minute things." I walk in the kitchen to see my mom placing everything on the counter.
"Hey mom can we talk about something in private. It's important!" I say pointing to my room so no one can hear. Once we get in my room I close the door.
"What's wrong sweetheart. Nervous? Don't worry me and your brother have everything under control." She says pointing to the door.
I shake my head. "No, it has something to do with me and Andrew 0and it's not what your thinking about. You and dad would be a part from each other while you were dating right?" I say
"Yes, sometimes but once we were together everything was the same as when he left." She said pretty much answering my question.
"Okay, I am just scared that when Andrew gets back it will be all awkward between us and I don't want that." I say trying to explain it good enough for her to understand
"Look honey you and Andrew have been together for almost 4 years and now your going to doubt your relationship with him? He loves you and I know that and so should you. Don't worry about it okay?" She says making me feel a whole lot better about him coming. "Now let's go back to the party. It's almost 8 already and you need to get outside to meet him and we can hide." We walk out of my room and everyone I invited was here. I looked at the time (7:50), everyone was talking and eating some of the food. It was time to text Andrew and see where he was.
Me - Hey babe text me when your almost here so I can come outside.
A few seconds later.....
Andrew - Hey, actually I am about five minutes away. I can't wait to see you.
"Oh my god he's only five minutes away" I think "Do I look okay, I just can't wait to see him." I run in the bathroom and fix myself a little even he always tells me how beautiful I am.
I pull my mom to the side once I get out of the bathroom. "I need you to get everyone together and hide, Andrew is going to be here in less than five minutes. I'm gonna go outside." I say as my mom gets everyone ready.
The air outside is a little damp maybe it's going to rain, but it's still warm. Around the corner I see a car come this way and park. It's him. I begin to get a little too anxious and nervous but then I see a tall skinny man walking my way and that's when I start running towards him. I hit his chest and I start to get a little emotional.
"Hey." He says holding my face in his hands, I can hardly breath. His face is still a little rough but his beard is gone and his hair is shorter than the last time I ran my hands through it.
"Hi." I say pulling his face closer to mine, there is no space between us. "I missed you soo much. I love you." I say while kissing every part of his face.
"I love you too, and you have no idea how much I missed you." He says kissing my lips softly after. We kiss for a moment until we feel sprinkles of rain on our faces. "I think we should go inside." He said laughing as the rain began to pour down.
"Yeah I think thats a good idea." I said laughing as we walked into the house and all my worries disappeared at once.
The lights were off when we walked in the house and Andrews face looked confused at the darkness.
"SURPRISE!!" Everyone yelled.
I looked to see Andrews face and he was laughing since he has never been truly surprised by me. I knew all my worries were for nothing.
