Chapter Summary!!
" Kokushibou is emo. "
Now onto the story!!!

○ - . - . - . - . - ●

I’ve lived in silence, for as long as I can remember. Ever since Kindergarten, people had always avoided me for unexplainable reasons. Maybe they had decided that my brother was always better than me. Not that that was false, by any means. He had always been in first place in everything. Nobody wanted to talk to the guy in second place. Why would they? The one in first place was always way cooler, right?

“Michi? Are you in there?” Michikatsu slammed his dia— NOTEBOOK. It was a notebook. Not a diary. Michikatsu slammed his NOTEBOOK closed, and quickly turned to his bedroom door. “...Yes. I'm here.” “What are you doing? We have to get going.” Yoriichi said, worriedly. “I’m coming, I’m coming.” “Alright. I’ll be waiting for you outside!” “...Alright.” After the sound of Yoriichi’s footsteps were gone, Michikatsu stood up, and finally decided to get ready for school.

Tsugikuni Michikatsu, or, better known as Kokushibou in school, is alone. Aside from his brother, he is completely and utterly alone. At home, at school, even just going out. He doesn’t mind being alone, though, He doesn’t mind the silence, or the loneliness, or how dull everything is. In fact, he’s more comfortable with it than he is with people in general. He prefers to take long walks alone. He prefers the feeling of loneliness. He prefers all the silence. He prefers it, and it brings him comfort, so what’s the big deal, right?

Of course.. Being alone and being invisible are two completely different things. Nobody really… saw Michikatsu as.. Michikatsu. Just as someone who blends into the crowd. Despite getting second in every subject, it wasn’t good enough. Because as long as Yoriichi kept being so good at everything, he did not matter. Nobody had a reason to praise him, a reason to compliment him, or even talk to him. It’d been like that since all their years in school. Even Yoriichi’s friends did not wish to talk to him. As if there was something wrong with him that was not wrong with Yoriichi. Which was complete shit, since they were literally twins. Maybe not identical, but they were definitely twins! And he was the older one! And yet, despite being the older twin, despite being a twin in general, despite being second place in every subject, nobody found a reason to talk to him. Not that he blamed any of them. Not at all. Why talk to him if they had no reason to? It just didn’t make sense. Not even the loudest guy in the entire first year(at least, when he’d been in his second year) had given up on talking to him.

But yes, for the most part, Michikatsu enjoyed being alone. And that was just how it was.

Michikatsu arrived at school, and separated from Yoriichi, who went to meet up with his little friend group, and discuss whatever. Probably how they think the new school year is going to go. But in Michikatsu’s professional opinion, he thinks that it’s going to go the exact same as last year, and perhaps he means in a good way, but he isn’t entirely sure.

He watches his brother leave. For some reason, he feels his heart ache, and wishes Yoriichi would say at least a goodbye, or just something in general, to him. But he quickly pushes that feeling to the side because-- what nonsense. Why would he ever wish for that? If anything, he enjoys nothing being said to him. Because yay, more silence to himself, right? Right..?

He hears excited chatter not too far away. Those must be the new first years. Meeting up with friends, excited to be enrolled at Kimetsu. Maybe some from the Kimetsu Junior High. He wishes he could tell them that Highschool isn’t as fun as he’s sure they think it is. But he shoved that thought away, because why would they listen to him? They live in a world full of color, and his world is… in complete black and white, low saturation, monotone. Not that he really cares, anyway. Why should he?
