it's the grim!

Harry, Ron, and I sat in Divination bored out of our minds. I leaned my cheek against my palm and propped it up with my elbow. This class was easy, luckily enough, because we just made up rubbish about the future. This term, we were working on crystal gazing.

"Broaden your minds," Trelawney lectured in her dreamy voice that tempted me to fall asleep. "You must look beyond. The art of crystal gazing is in clearing of the inner eye. Only then can you see."

Ron began snoring softly beside me as Harry laid on his arms on his desk, staring blankly into the crystal ball. I was looking at Ron though. He wasn't the most elegant sleeper, with his mouth half open and soft snores echoing from his nose. Somehow, I still found it attractive.

"Now what do we have here?" Trelawney asked, stopping in front of us. The three of us jumped up, startled by her presence. I cleared my throat as Ron and Harry sat up and straightened their robes.

"Oh, do you mind me trying?" Hermione asked. I know I wasn't looking but I swear she wasn't there a few seconds ago. Trelawney gave her a gesture to go on, looking at her expectantly.

"The Grim...possibly," Hermione said.

"My dear, from the first moment you stepped foot in my class, I sensed that you did not possess the proper spirit for the noble art of Divination," Trelawney said, taking Hermione's hand and holding her palm up. Hermione's expression faded into a scowl as she examined her palm.

"No, see there?" she pointed. "Ah, you may be young in years, but the heart that beats beneath your bosom is as shriveled as an old maid's. Your soul, as dry as the pages of the books to which you so desperately cleave, mhm."

Hermione stood up abruptly, ripping her hand from Trelawney's grasp and pushing the crystal ball onto the floor. She grabbed her bag and left the classroom.

"Have I said something?" Trelawney asked, and I looked at her with an are-you-serious expression?

"She's gone mental, Hermione has," Ron said once class had finished and we exited the classroom. "I mean, not that she wasn't always mental, but now it's out in the open for everyone to see."

"Ron!" I scoffed, slapping him in the stomach.

"Ow!" he groaned, holding his stomach.

"Stop being mean to Hermione!" I retorted.

"Hang on," Harry said, bending over and picking a crystal ball off the stairs. "We better take this back."

"I'm not going back," Ron scoffed.

"Fine, see you later," Harry said, turning and walking away.

"See you," Ron said, turning and walking down the stairs. Angry at Ron, I turned and followed Harry up the stairs.

We entered the classroom to find it deserted. Harry and I looked around but found no one. I shrugged and placed the crystal ball on the stand on the table.

"Wait," Harry said, stopping me as I turned away. "Do you see that?" I looked at the crystal ball he was pointing to, but I didn't see anything.

"I don—" I was interrupted by Trelawney grabbing onto Harry's shoulder gasping like she was desperate for air.

"Professor Trelawney," Harry said.

"He will return tonight," Trelawney said in an eerie and raspy voice.

"Sorry?" I asked.

"Tonight, he who betrayed his friends, whose heart rots with murder, shall break free. Innocent blood shall be spilt, and Servant and Master shall be reunited once moreeeee," she finished and her words turned into coughs as she slightly choked. Harry and I stared at her with wide eyes.
