Lingering

The next day was no different.
The monster still lingered in the mirror and I tried to get use to it and pretend in my own crazy way it was natural.

I brushed my teeth to it's cruel chuckle.

It wasn't real
It was just me
It's just my imagination
I only see it
Because I'm not okay
But I'll be fine

It was my first day back to school and I was more than excited to see my friends.

I slowly began to undress closing my eyes tightly hoping the monster wouldn't make it's presence known.

I slowly got in the bath and made the mistake of shutting my eyes.
When I ran my fingers on top of the water but it felt thicker than what it was before,
My eyes flickered and I jumped as I saw a crimson red color. I got out too quickly,

I saw my self in the mirror and saw nothing but my hair dripping down and it was only water.

"Honey, hurry up Winnie is here"

Winnie used to be my best friend she used to be my everything.
The only person's feelings that ever bothered me the one I told everything to.
Before I went insane.

I walked down the stairs stopping midway when I saw Winnie stuffing her face with mother's warm pancakes.
She giggled at something Winnie was saying and I smiled, I haven't seen mother happy in the longest.
I was about to continue my walk to the kitchen when I heard,

"Have you heard anything...?"
"No one really talks about it anymore"
"Are you sure?... I don't want her to be embarrassed -" her eyes met mines and I flashed her a fake yet reassuring smile.

"I am so ready to party!" Winnie said as we stepped out of the cab and made our way to a college frat party.. Most people there were high schoolers like us who just pretended they were older.

I lid up a cigarette and placed it between my lips...
"Are we going or not?!" Winnie practically squealed before she dragged me inside.

"Imma go get us something to drink but you stay and you party understood?!"
"Yes m'am" I saluted her before taking another drag out of my cigarette.

"You can't smoke in here.." A really hot guy I recognized as Evan from his thousands of parties.

"Really?" I said as I took another drag releasing it through my nose.

"Yeah really." He said taking the smoke from my mouth and stepping on it.

" I brought the dr-" before Winnie could finish her sentence I took the red cup and took a swing.

I had an amazing idea
As I made my way to the dance floor and heard the shitty music blasting through the speakers.

I swung my hips slowly and kept my eyes glued to Evan who couldn't keep his eyes off me.
