My mother always tells me to be who you want to be and most of the time, I don't question her logic. The only time I do is when my brother and his friends make fun of me for being a teachers pet, or being smart, while they are over there failing classes and attempting to be punk rock. I haven't told my mom what is happening and I'm not supposed to or I will get beat up even more.

"Kayla, wake up you have to go to school," my mother said. I got up and changed, then grabbed my glasses and my graphing calculator off it's charger. I shoved them into my pocket and backpack. Walking downstairs, I saw my parents.

"Good Morning!" I said, announcing to the kitchen that I was present.

"Kayla, I made your favorite for the big day!" Dad said. Oh, yes. I had our standardized test today. My brother walked in and rolled his eyes when he saw me. I scarfed down my food, rushed to the garage, got on my bike and went to school.

When I arrived, I went into the principal's office since I was an aide there for first period.

"Good morning, Kayla" the principal said. I smiled, waved, and took my seat.

About five minutes later, one of Micheal's friends, Ashton, I think, walked in.

"Mr. Irwin, why?" the principal asked.

"Because school is a waste of time," he said. I scoffed several thoughts of my own crossing my mind. "Why don't you keep you mouth shut, you piece of shit." he spat at me.

"Mr. Irwin go join your friends in ILC" the principal said. He smiled and walked out.

"I'm used to it, I see them all the time" I said, shuffling through papers.

"Is your mother aware?" she asked. I shook my head. "You should tell her."

"No, of all things right now, my mom doesn't need that." I looked up.

"What have they done to you?" she asked, concern forming in her eyes.

"Well, Calum and Luke stick to name calling and Micheal beats me as well as Ashton." I said.

"You need to tell your mother."

"I will consider it." I said.

I walked out when the bell rang and went to English. I almost ran into my brother and Calum.

"Teacher's pet" Micheal whispered as I walked by. I ignored him and sat down. I was halfway

taking notes when I was tapped on the shoulder. "Calum, told me to give you this," Anna said. I grabbed the piece of paper and saw the words flash before my eyes.

'You're a worthless piece of shit. You deserve to die. Get out of our lives. You are in no way related to Micheal and you need to do yourself a favor and just die.' -C

This is going overboard. Wait, aren't they suppose to be in ILC? They are personally coming to classes to pick on me and I have had enough of this. Maybe they were right, maybe I should die. I got up and ran out of the classroom. I ran into the principal's office and showed her the note.

"You are calling your mom right now." she said, dialing my mom's number on the phone.

"You talk to her first." I said.

"Of course," she said, then began talking to the pther person on the line.

"Hello, Mrs. Clifford? This is Mrs. Hastings calling. Your daughter is in my office and is being bullied and beat up by your son and his friends. She received a note from Micheal and Mr. Hood during English telling her to kill herself." Mrs. Hastings paused, listening. "She is right here"

I took the phone.

"Kayla is this true?" Mom asked.

"Yes?" I admitted, my hands starting to shake.

"How long has this been going on?" she asked.

"Ever since they started that stupid band!" I said.

"Kayla, that was two years ago! You were fourteen!" My mom yelled. "I am packing your stuff. You need to get away from Micheal and his friends. Come home. You leave for the states as soon as I am done packing." she said firmly.

I handed the phone back to the principal. "Goodbye. Mom's sending me to the states," I said.

"Have fun, Kayla. You should consider making a change, because sometimes change is better than you think," she said, shaking my hand. I smiled and walked out to my bike, eager to get home.
