Before I start this story I want to dive a little into the folklore of the Banshee.
Now according to Wikipedia, and folklore The Banshee is a supernatural being in Irish and other Celtic folklore. whose mournful "keening, wailing/screaming in the night is believed to foretell the death of a member of the person's family who here's her sorrow filled cries
It was a dark, wet and stormy night in the small village of Adare. Orla was in the kitchen with her mother helping her with dinner.
when suddenly her younger sister Aoife burst into the kitchen squealing,with her twin brother Clancy close behind her chasing her with a wooden sword.
"Orla save me!". Aoife squealed as she dashed around the table. Attempting to get away from her sword welding twin. Orla laffed sitting down the knife,she was using to cut potatoes. "Clancy" her mother scolded " what did i say about chasing your sister".
The red headed boy looked down at the ground and opened his mouth to reply when suddenly there was a loud clap of lightning followed closely by thunder.
There was a low wailing sound coming from outside. It grew louder and louder and louder. Orla glanced at her mother. She was huddled with the younger children by the fireplace . the mother gave her eldest child a slight nod.
signaling her to check what the sound was. Orla drew back the curtains and peaked outside.
There she saw the thing that was making all the noise.
It was a ghost-like figure with long hair, beaty eyes and a bony build. It let out one more blood curdling cry before disappearing.
Into the storm horrified Orla let out a silent scream. Baking away from the window she joined the rest of her family that were huddling near the fireplace.
About a month or so later a smallpox outbreak struk the small village, unfortunately the twins caught it. Only one survived
