As I walked out of the classroom, I saw Josh waiting for me.
"Hey," he said with a smile.
"Hi," Josh is so nice all of the time, I really don't know why.
"So," he cleared his throat, "you maybe wanna Han- work on our poems after school?"
I had never seen Josh so.... nervous? "Yeah, that sounds good." We both just stood there for what felt like forever, until I finally spoke, "uh, my house or yours?"
"Mines good, if that's good with you too?"
"Yeah, yeah that's...." I tried desperately to think of another word, something other than 'good' anything other than 'good' but alas, all that out was "good, that sounds good."
"Good," the expression on his face showed he really didn't wanna say it again either.
"I-I should really be getting to class."
"Yeah, totally," I had already turned to leave when I heard him say, "do you want my number?"
"Huh?"
"So that I can give you my address."
"Oh, yeah, sure, that would probably help," I laughed to try and take his mind off of how stupid I was being.
He gave me his number, and I hurried off to my last class of the day.
The bell rang, I was dreading what came next. Super awkward conversations with Josh, trying to "get to know each other."
I was honestly considering just texting him and saying that I had some kind of family emergency.
But despite what I wanted, I still went.
