It was never meant to be this way but whenever our eyes meet, I couldn't look away and when you smiled, oh god, it was the warmest smile I have ever received that I found myself falling once more.
Hyomin.
I never thought my name would sound beautiful until it left your lips.
"I'm Sunny. Nice to meet you, Hyomin!"
======
Sunny.
Your warm personality matched your name that I found it hard to believe that it was not birth-given. You laughed it off when I suddenly brought it up saying an empty threat if I dare call you with your birthname even once.
Sunny.
I always remember the warmest and happiest memories whenever I hear and see your name. Be it on the television or radio. I can still remember your smile that day and though it was years ago, it felt like it happened yesterday. Never in a million years would I think your smile can be brighter but it did that day. "You are my forever sunshine."
Indeed you are and will always be.
Sunny.
"Hello? Yes oppa. I'm at Hyomin's. Yep. Okay, be there in an hour. Take care. I love you too."
You dropped the call and plopped down the bed we were sharing. We were supposed to have our movie night like we used to but I guess we won't having one now.
"I'm sorry Hyomin. I forgot that I was supposed to meet Sungmin today. I know it's supposed to be our night..."
I reached out and gently cupped your face. You can't even look straight into my eyes. Conflict was written all over your cute face. I smiled, trying to ease your mind.
"It's okay. I know he's someone important and before you say that I'm important too, I already know that but I also know we are on a different level. Now go get your lazy ass off the bed. Sungmin's waiting." I smiled once again, masking off my own emotions.
"I'm sorry, Hyomin, and thank you. Next movie night's on my place and I promise, no interruptions!"
I chuckled, eventually agreeing while we made our way to the front door.
"Great. Now then," a kiss on my cheek, "I'll see you."
"Yep. Go. Now."
"Fine, fine! I'm going! Sheesh, no need to shoo me out!"
I let out a grin and playfully stuck my tongue out in your direction. You chuckled and did the same.
"You child. Bye for now, Hyom. I love you!"
A flying kiss and you're on your way.
I shut the door— finally letting go of the pain I was trying to hide.
"I love you too."
======
Sunny,
Regrets are some of the hardest pills to swallow. Sometimes I wonder, if I did confess the night when we decided to stroll by the Han river, would we be the same?
It's a bit selfish now that I think about it. Maybe, this is really how it was meant to be. After all, I was your byungpoong back then and I'll gladly be your byungpoong again.
I have thought of forgetting about these feelings countless of times. It's been years and for the sake of our friendship and your relationship with him, I will gladly forget mine.
It seems to be easier said than done. The more I said I don't, the more I realize that I do and I am hopelessly in love you.
There's nothing else to find. My heart only wants you so I have decided to accept this fate and keep my feelings with me until I die. My love is yours until the end.
Hyomin.
