The sun was shining and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Kai Havertz was lounging in a hammock in the shade of a verdant, tall tree. Everything was calm, quiet and peaceful.
Kai had his eyes closed and was about to fall asleep when he suddenly felt a weight fall on top of him.
"Kai!" he heard. Someone was clearly excited to see him. Kai had an inkling of who it was from hearing their voice.
Kai opened his eyes and looked down at his chest. All he saw was a mass of golden brown hair. Someone had buried his face in his armpit. He could feel stubble prickle his upper arm. The guy looked up towards Kai's face. He knew it. It was his adorable best friend, Timo Werner, of course.
"Hallo!" Timo exclaimed happily with a huge grin on his face.
"Hey Timo," replied Kai, "what brings you..."
Before Kai could finish his question, the ropes holding up the hammock suddenly snapped, causing the two men to fall to the floor. Kai instinctively wrapped his arms around Timo to protect him. The two men hit the ground with a thud, altough Kai took most of the damage.
"Aggghhhh...." moaned Kai.
"Sorry, Kai," whimpered Timo apologetically, "I hope you're ok..."
"Don't worry about it, mate," replied Kai, "I don't think I'm injured. At least, I hope I'm not. The coach would be fuming if I were. He's counting on me being fit for the start of the next season."
Still on top of his chest, Timo gave Kai a worried and guilty look. His big, puppy dog eyes could melt anyone's heart.
"Relax. I'll be fine," reassured Kai, "it was clearly an accident and I'm pretty sure there had been a problem with the hammock anyway."
"Ok," said Timo softly, "well, I think you're fit."
Kai smiled and almost started blushing. "I don't think that's what the coach meant when he said, "fit"," replied Kai with a laugh.
Timo smiled too and then gently kissed Kai's neck. "I've missed you, Kai," whispered Timo, "I couldn't bear to be without you another second longer so I just had to come and visit to be with you again."
"I've missed you too, Timo," whispered Kai in return, kissing Timo on his forehead and soothingly rubbing his back.
"This stone tiling isn't very comfortable, you know," said Kai, "let's go inside."
The couple got up and walked hand in hand into Kai's house. Their time apart made them look forward to what was going to happen next even more.
