JUNIPER STOOD IN FRONT OF HER VANITY!
Now that her Vogue internship was over, her father wanted her to return home. Home was a lot of different places and nowhere at all. Home was wherever he was. Currently, that was Japan, where he was practicing to compete in a round of volleyball games.
"This is the worst idea you've ever had, June." Citlali, her best-friend, commented. "Your dad is gonna be pissed."
"He won't even know. He's living on a training compound right now, so I'll get the apartment to myself." Juniper brushed her comment off, turning to the side.
"Well, other people are gonna know. You're too pretty to be a boy."
"Ugh. If they find out I'm a girl immediately, I'll be upset, but if they believe I'm a guy, I'll be even more upset."
Citlali's biggest passion was coding. She was also great with photoshop. After June's father drafted up online transfer paperwork, it wasn't too hard for her to make a couple changes, like gender and name, and submit them herself.
What was hard, was hiding what she'd done from her father. She had to send oddly framed pictures of her uniform so he wouldn't see it was for men.
"This still makes no sense to me. Why are you She's The Man-ing it?" Citlali crinkled her nose in confusion. "Have you considered just signing up for the girls team?"
"Obviously. They got really bad scores last year and half of them quit. I can't bet on them getting a whole team by next week." Juniper replied.
"So pretending to be a guy is your next best idea?"
"Yeah. I watched the movie. It can't be that hard. I just need a binder and a good lace front."
"You can't be serious."
"I'll, like, win a couple games and then my dad will be super proud and he'll leave me alone about sports forever."
"Yeah. He'll see that you're so passionate about it you're pretending to be a boy. Like a pervert."
"I am not a pervert."
Not only would Juniper need a new name, but she'd need a whole backstory, too. Whatever. She was great at improv, so she'd just figure it out on the way.
Citlali shrugged at her friend's stupid idea, but stood up and grabbed one of her contour brushes. She glanced at her computer, trying to follow the masculinizing makeup tutorial.
"No! No, don't make me ugly!" Juniper yelped as the girl approached.
