He calls you clingy

"I don't know Jere. Don't get me wrong, I love her to death. But lately she's just been so clingy." Your heart basically sank to your stomach hearing the words come out of Conrad's mouth. You kept your back pressed against the wall as you held your breathe.

You had just come back from a bike ride and they must have not heard the front door shut.

"Like she wants to spend every second together. Sometimes I just want to hang out with you and Steven, or sometimes I just want to be alone for a little bit. It's overwhelming at times."

Your heart grew sadder after each word. You didn't think that you were being clingy or overbearing. You thought you were spending the regular amount of time with him as you always did.

Summer has always been special at Cousins and this summer was the first summer you and Conrad were officially a couple. You hadn't thought this summer was much different from the rest though.

You ran upstairs to your room, shutting the door quietly before falling onto your bed and stuffing your face into your pillow. Had you really been overbearing?

You sniffled up the snot that threatened to drip from your nose. Conrad thought you were clingy? Fine, you'd make sure he didn't have a reason to think that anymore. You changed out of your gym shorts and tee, pulling on some denim shorts and a cropped tank. You slammed your bedroom door shut when you stepped out, alerting the boys that you were in fact home.

When you got to the bottom of the stairs, the boys and moms were in the kitchen. Susannah was putting something in the oven and Jere was at the dinner table to talking to your mom.

"Hey, there you are!" Susannah smiled, seeing you come into the kitchen. You gave her a smile and a small hug from behind.

"Where've you been?" Jere asked from the table. You shrugged your shoulders, opening the fridge and getting a drink, setting it on the island. Conrad stood across from you, giving you a smile. You shot a small smile back, resisting the urge to shoot a glare at him.

"I went for a bike ride! But I've been home for maybe 15 minutes already. Hey mom, is it okay if I take the car into town? I wanna do some shopping." You gave your mom puppy eyes. You didn't necessarily want to go shopping, you just wanted to get out of the house and more importantly away from Conrad.

"Yeah, sure. Maybe ask your sister if she wants to go with you?" She raised an eyebrow at you, but you shook your head.

"Belly has a party with some of the debs. I won't be too long, promise!" You smiled, grabbing the keys out of her hands and walking out the front door.

"Y/n!" You shifted your body, turning to see Conrad jogging down the steps towards you. "Can I come with?" He smiled, his hand reaching out to hold onto yours. You scolded yourself mentally at how easily your hand molded into his, even if you were upset with him you craved his touch.

"Oh, no I think I'll just go by myself. It's okay, I know how much you hate shopping." You pulled your hand away from his, taking a step back.

"Yeah but I don't mind if it's with you." He chuckled.

"Conrad we don't have to do everything together." You pulled on the car door, opening it up. His face contorted, obviously confused as to where this was all coming from. You couldn't help but chuckle this time. "I'll see you later, okay?" You got into the car and shut the door.

Sure maybe you were being a little petty, but you had just heard your boyfriend complaining about you to someone instead of talking to you face to face. You were hurt.

You couldn't deny that the pout on Conrad's face satisfied your heart just a little bit.

The rest of the week went on the same, you avoided Conrad as much as possible without getting suspicious. You opted to sit next to Jeremiah during movie night, you spent more time with the moms as an excuse to keep yourself busy. You'd even wake up super early in the morning and get out the house before Conrad could go into your room and ask if you wanted to get muffins.

As much as you hated being apart from Conrad, you hated the thought of you being clingy even more.

Today was Belly's 16th birthday and we decided we wouldn't celebrate her birthday like we normally do. Instead of a simple old dinner, we're throwing a pool party. She's inviting the debs, Taylors coming to town and it's going to be a lot of fun.

"Y/n, honey. Can you grab some more tape from the office please?" Susannah called, she was taping up some banners to the sides of the house, they were really going all out for Belly. You shouted a yes back at her before making your way into the house.

You rummaged through Susannah's desks looking for the new pack of tape.

"Here, she keeps it over here." Conrad walked into the door and opened up a cabinet off to the side, picking up the pack of tape and placing it on the table in front of you. Your hand touched his as you went to grab the tape.

"Thanks." You muttered, grabbing the tape and circling the desk towards the exit. Conrad grabbed onto your wrist and pulled you back into the room, shutting the office door.

"Why are you avoiding me?" He stared deep into your eyes, his stare was almost intimidating. You felt small under his stare.

"What are you talking about?" You acted stupid, wiggling out of his hold.

"You've been avoiding me all week, ignoring me. You never want to hang out, you're always busy off by yourself, you can hardly even be in the same room as me." He grumbled. "What did I do? Please, baby." He was pleading with you at this point.

"Nothing. I'd just hate to be clingy." You rolled your eyes.

Conrad furrowed his eyebrows together, confused as to what you were saying. Then it clicked, his face softened and his hand reached out for you.

"Y/n.. you're not clingy okay?" He sighed but you just shook your head, pushing your hand onto his chest to put some distance between the two of you.

"I heard you say it with my own ears, Conrad." You shook your head, "Don't worry about it, it won't happen again."

"Baby, stop." He stopped you from leaving the room again. "Sometimes you are clingy, but that's okay. I love it. I love that you love being with me no matter what we're doing because I love being with you. That day when I was talking to Jeremiah I was just annoyed, the guys were saying I was whipped and that I couldn't function without you and it got to my head I guess." He sighed.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry I said that you were clingy." He held onto your hands and this time you let him. "Please never stop being clingy." He chuckled. "This week has been hell, I can't stand this anymore. I'm so sorry, baby."

You couldn't resist the smile from spreading on your face. You just nodded and let him wrap his arms around your body.

"Next time.. please just talk to me if you have a problem." You sighed, letting yourself enjoy this moment of being in his arms again.

"I promise. I love you, y/n. I'm sorry I'm such an idiot." He muttered into your ear. You laughed and pulled back a little bit.

"Yeah, but you're my idiot." You smiled, kissing his lips softly.
