- General information:
Age: 16 - 17
Species: Human
Soul trait: Determination (weakened)
- Story (summarize): He's the eighth fallen human who felt seven years before Frisk and the only human alive in the Underground.
Due to the fall, he lost his memories about his personal live, just remembering his name. While he tried to find a way out, he met and befriended the people of the underground (similar to an average neutral route), even meeting with the first fallen's spirit. After defeating Omega Flowey, he left the underground, but, once he was out, he began missing all his new friends and was determined to achieve a better ending for Asgore.
Then, he found out about his ability to RESET the timeline and used it to return to the Underground and repeat his adventure again and multiple times afterwards, after finally figuring out the True Pacifist ending, he kept on resetting, wantinh to relive his adventure over and over again.
At some point, the idea of a genocide route crossed his mind, wondering what would happen if he did the opposite of what he usually did, he despised the idea of killing them, but, as other routes were completed, his curiosity only grew until he forced himself to do it. At first, he wanted to reset again and erase this timeline, while Chara insisted him to stop, but his curiosity kept pushing him to proceed, the more he killed, his pacifist self began to dissipate, replaced by the feeling of L.O.V.E. and EXP, desiring to gain more at the cost of the monsters' lives.
It wasn't until the end when he realized his own actions after he killed the underground's judge, the blood of the skeleton on his hands and knife, at this realization and filled with regret, he wanted to reset to undo his actions, but was stopped by the other child, who also got influenced by Max's genocide route and wanted him to end the job. He refused, causing both of them to confront each other, both of them being similar in power. In the end, Chara won but, before she could take the final blow, Max was able to reset just in time, breaking any connections between both of them in the progress.
After this, he decided to live with the monsters as a way to compensate for his own sins, believing it would be hypocrite of him being called the hero of monsterkind after massacring them all.
His life in the Underground consists of two stages, his live in the Ruins with Toriel (which lasts 3 years), and his life in Snowdin (which lasts until the events of the game).
- Personality: He could be described as a Sans 2.0 (even though he isn't as lazy as Sans). He's calm, determined (but not as much as he used to be when he was younger) quite polite and tries to be responsible, but he tends to forget things easily. When irritated, he tries not to show it, trying not to be rude, but can get furious if he's pushed to his limits. He can be curious about things he doesn't know but won't go to the extreme where "curiosity kills the cat" (if he does, it'll be probably by accident).
- Magic and abilities:
Determination: Thanks to his soul, Max could reset the timeline and "reload" from previous save points when he was younger. Due to the deterioration of Max's determination, he can't do any of these, but is conscious about the existence of resets and can remember a few timelines (3 maximum), but he isn't inmune to the effects of a true reset. He can remember certain events of his own resets as well.
Magic: During his genocide route, he gained magic from boss monsters (Toriel, Papyrus, etc). Currently, he possesses part of that magic and some of the L.O.V.E. he gained (the image above contains some info like his stats and LV) due to a reset residue. This magic consists in:Bone magic: Summons bones from ground or thin air, like his 'brothers'. These can be either light blue, orange, red and green (not to confuse with healing magic).
