As Charlie followed Matilda to James house he thought about the first time met James
Charlie was sitting on the curb. He wasn't allowed to get a piece of candy because his parents said they were too poor to eat. All of a sudden he heard a voice "are you okay?" Charlie looked up to see a little girl "I'm Jessica" the girl said
"I-I'm Charlie."
"Why are you sad Charlie?"
"Because my parents said I couldn't buy a piece of candy."
"Ohhhh, well my mommy and daddy are fighting so they gave me a nickel to go away, we could share my chocolate bar?"
"O-o-o-kay.
