chapter 2

serena's P.O.V

after the first time Chris visited my shop with Ricky, Vinny, Justin, and Ryan. I started coming up with different drinks that involved oat milk. as I was working on one of them I heard the bell at my shop's door and I looked up in time to see Chris and Ricky walk into the shop Vinny in tow. " ahh there are my favorite customers. how are yall today?"
Ricky laughed and walked up to the counter hopping onto the bar stool. " oh I bet you say that to everyone."
I laughed and shook my head. "No, you know I'm not a liar or ass kisser Ricky. you know that better than anyone."
With that, they all sat down and I began making Ricky and Vinny's usual orders before turning to Chris. " so sugar what can I get you today? I've been making drinks with oat milk to find the best combo and I think you might like this one. Also here's a cake pop on the house. It's only given when I've accepted you as a part of the night-born cafe family."
I placed the cake pop on a plate in front of him and went to make the drink. I saw Ricky and Vinny out of the corner of my eye start to stop him from eating it and I glared at them til they caught on and backed off. Shortly after I saw Chris pick it up and take a bite. " wow Serena this is ama... HOT!!!"
I laughed as he looked around before grabbing Vinny's smoothie and chugging it to cool the heat from the chili chocolate cake pop. "Why... is.. that.. so.. hot?"
He asked in-between drinks of the smoothie. "Oh, it's my special chili chocolate cake pop. Ricky helped me come up with it. Funny enough he was also its first victim. I keep it as a joke/ inanition Into the cafe family because I can't quite figure out how to keep it from being super spicy. I do have a few regulars who order as a part of their regular stuff but not many."

Since he drank Vinny's smoothie I made him another one and slid it over to him. "This one is on the house vin."
He smiled and took it making sure to guard it against Chris this time. I then turned to Ricky and smiled "so how are you today sweetie? I hope it's better than yesterday."
Ricky smiled and nodded sipping on his usual which was similar to the drink Chris had yesterday except it was iced and with almond milk. " yeah a lot better thanks to you. Um, I was wondering if maybe you wanted to hang out one day? With me.. alone?"
He smiled shyly and looked up at me through his long black hair. I felt a blush start to heat my cheeks and I looked away and started cleaning the counter. " I mean I haven't been out in a while and it could do me some good too. "

he smiled brightly and I felt my blush come on full force and I pushed mine back behind my ears showing my necklace and earrings. so as I did, Chris looked over and suddenly stood up before storming over. " those earrings and necklace where did you get them?"                                                       I looked at him and gripped my necklace in my hand. " I've had them since I can remember which is about the last 20 years, I don't remember much past my 9th birthday."                                       before I could say anything else he grabbed Ricky and dragged him out of the cafe.

Chris's P.O.V

as she spoke I suddenly understood why I couldn't stop thinking of her since that first time a few days ago. so as I dragged Ricky out of the cafe I  was not expecting him to shove me off and make me hit the wall. " dude what is wrong with you? I was about to get her to say yes to a date to me for the first time in 2 years."                                                                                                                                                 I sighed and ran a hand along my face. " look Ricky that jewelry she's wearing is the same kind I gave my mate when she was a child so I could find her when she was all grown up. so if she has those it could only mean two things. one if she has the full set she's my mate and two if she only has two of the pieces it's possible my mate gave them to her."
