"And then there's Heidi tomorrow night, but the problem with..." Robin hears Steve going on about some new girl he'll end up never even going on a date with again, at this point, when he starts talking about girls she subconsciously drowns him out because it's the same thing every time. He's her best friend but that doesn't mean she has to like hearing about his sex life or lack of.

Robin stops putting on her mascara when Steve starts directly talking to her and she can no longer pretend she's paying attention. "I mean I don't know. Does that make sense to you?" Steve says looking over at her waiting for an answer. "Robin?!" Steve yells and it makes Robin jump and almost smear her make up. "Are you listening" he says while trying to keep his eyes on the road. "Uh, yes I'm listening, something about sex with Linda. Now can you please focus on the road I'm not trying to get killed or worse ruin my makeup and look look a fool." Robin says flailing her arms in the air. "No! I'm talking about Heidi." Steve says thrusting his hand in front of him as if to prove his point. "Cut me some slack, please!" Robin yells, frustrated, while Steve rubs his hand on his forehead also looking frustrated. "Your love life is one of labyrinthine complexity. And it is 7 am and we have the to go to this stupid pep rally, and I woke up like a corpse!" Robin says looking in the overhead mirror of Steve's BMW 733i that he is so very in love with. He even named it tony which in Robins opinion, is odd because all cars are girls but he swears his cars a Tony so she let it go. "You're worried about a pep rally? Expect me to believe that?" Steve says looking over at Robin in disbelief. "Yeah? So?" Robin says, looking away to avoid eye contact. "So, we both know what this is about. This is about Vickie." Steve says trying to focus on the road while thrusting his hand in the air like he did before to get his point across. "Absolutely not." Robin says now working on her lips.

"Yes it is. And you know what else-" he starts but it cut off, "I don't care" Robin says now turning towards him. "You just gotta go for it and stop pretending to be someone else when you're around her" Steve says still trying to keep his focus on the road but not doing a good job at it. "You're literally quoting me to me. You do realize that" Robin says drawing out the "literally". "Maybe you should listen to yourself once in a while, ever think about that? Smarty pants. I listened. Look at me. Boom. Back in business." Steve said while Robin rolled her eyes. "It's not the same thing Stev-" Robin says foreigning exhaustion. "Well..." Steve says shrugging his shoulders. "Mmm. You ask out a girl and she says no. Big deal. Maybe your feeling are a little hurt. I ask out the wrong girl and bam!" Robin says slamming the mirror shut, "I'm a town pariah".

"Yeah I'd get that, except Vickie's definitely not the wrong girl" Steve says quickly looking over at Robin and then back to the road. " We just don't know that, do we" Robin says crossing her arms, now finished with her makeup. "She returned Fast Times paused at 53 minutes, 5 seconds." Steve says as Robin sprays perfume in her mouth and then starts gagging. Robin looks over at him unamused, "You know who pauses Fast Times at 53 minutes, 5 seconds?" Steve says looking over to Robin with a huge smirk on his face. "People who like boobies, Robin!" "Ew gross. Don't say boobies." Robin says closing her eyes. While she can agree that scene is amazing and has probably been rewatched over 50 million times in Hawkins alone, she doesn't want to talk about boobies with Steve. "Boobies!" Steve says again while Robin still has her eyes closed, shaking her head. "It's not a big deal, okay? I like boobies. You like boobies." Steve says pushing Robins shoulder. "Vickie likes boobies! Definitely!" Robin is still shaking her head. "It's boobies!" Steve says as they pull into the student parking lot of Hawkins High.

"Maybe I'm just missing something but why can't Jonathan just come down here for break?" Fred asks as him and Nancy walk around the Hawkins High News Paper room. "Because." Nancy says throwing her arms out. "Because why?" Fred asks slouched over while holding a stack of papers and a clip board under his arm, still following Nancy. "Because a lot of reasons" Nancy says clearly not wanting to have the conversation because really, there's no conversation to be had. "Curious" Fred says and Nancy wants to roll her eyes because Fred says that all the time and it doesn't even make any sense. She's tried to ignore him by grabbing a news paper from a freshman and busying her self with it, but he just keeps pushing. He starts going on about journalistic instincts and blah blah blah but she quickly shuts him down by telling him the same excuses Jonathan told her (that she's not even sure she fully believes). I mean she wants to, but it's hard not to be insecure and overthink things when you're boyfriend lives thousands of miles away.

Honestly if she didn't know better she'd think Fred was trying to turn her against Jonathan just to get into her pants like every other teenage boy, but she does know better and she knows he's just trying to be a good friend and he doesn't want her to get hurt. "Listen, all I'm saying is maybe you should at least try going out for a night, and forget about Jonathan and college applications and maybe even try to get yourself some" Fred said emphasizing the "some" part while wiggling his eye brows which caused his glasses to slide down so he quickly pushed them back up with his finger. Nancy's face scrunched up in disgust. "Okay, first of all, Fred, I'm going to try to forget you said that last part, it's gross." She said dramatically shaking her shoulders like she just got the chills.

"Jonathan is caring and compassionate and incredibly ambitious. He's never done anything halfway in his life. He's- I don't know, I don't need to explain myself to you Fred, I love Jonathan and yeah, things might be a little rough right now, being thousands of miles apart, but that's normal, and we'll get through it." Is what Nancy keeps telling her self and she believes it, she really does, but she shouldn't have to remind herself. "Okay, but I think you should at least try, there's a par-" Fred starts to say but is cut off by Mike barging in a yelling for Nancy. Which earns him a death glare from everyone in the room, especially Nancy.

AN: This story will have some scenes from the show but for the most part it'll have its own story, this chapter has two scenes from the show (slightly changed) because I want to include some and I love the car scene with Robin and Steve and the scene with Nancy and Fred fit well. I know this is a short chapter but it's only because I find it hard to get things started out. The hard part is over now so let me know what you guys think and give me recommendations!! Also if you couldn't tell by the description this is a RobinxNancy fic. If there is any mistakes or anything that doesn't make sense please let me know and I'll fix it right away!!
