Mike's pov
"We embarrassed those candy-asses in their own house, and now tonight, tonight, we're gonna bring home the championship trophy! Let's go!" I hear one of the basketball players scream. Tonight no it can't be tonight because if it is tonight then we might be down a player I think to myself
Tonight? How is that possible? I say out loud
"They call it a tournament. You win one game, you go on until there's only one team left. I don't get the big deal." Max says as she looks at me. I don't look back at her though I stare straight ahead because every time I look at her I can't help but admire her beauty so it's best for me to stare ahead.
[Time skip]
"Just talk to Eddie. Get him to move Hellfire to another night." I look at Lucas shocked I can't believe he wants us to move it I mean we have been leading up to this the whole year how can he ask us to ask Eddie to move it.
"Just talk to Eddie." Dustin says sarcastically
"Why don't you just talk to your coach and get him to move the game?" I say proudly
"I think that's a great idea, Mike." Dustin says
"Thank you, Dustin." I say back
"This is the championship game." Lucas says like it's even that important
"And this is the end of Eddie's campaign. A semester of adventuring has led to this moment, and we need you." Dustin says and I couldn't agree with him more
"Yeah, and the Tigers don't. You've been on the bench all year." I say though I feel bad hoping he doesn't take my words the heart
"That's not the point." Lucas says
"Please, arrive at the point." Dustin says desperately
"If I get in good with these guys, I'll be in the popular crowd, and then you guys will be too." Lucas says still not understanding that me and Dustin are happy as we are
I look at him and try to make him understand "Has it ever occurred to you that we don't want to be popular?"
"You wanna be stuck with the nerds and freaks for three more years?"he says clearly still not understanding which at this point is getting annoying
"We are nerds and freaks." Dustin says
"But maybe we don't have to be." Lucas says looking at both of us while stopping in front of the classroom
"Look, I'm tired of being bullied. I'm tired of girls laughing at us. I'm tired of feeling like a loser. We came to high school wanting things to be different. Right? So now we have that chance. I skip tonight, that's all out the window. So I'm asking you guys, as a friend, just talk to Eddie. Get him to move Hellfire. Come to my game. Please." Lucas looks at us one more time before walking away
"Shit" Dustin says and he couldn't be anymore right cause now we have to convince Eddie to move the date which I don't think is gonna go very well
The school bell rings snapping out of my thoughts as I rush to class
Max's pov
