A/N: Hii! this little paragraph has no immediate significance to the story, but it might help you (the reader) understand the characters/story better.

You do not have to read this to understand the story but it might clear things up, if you do not want to know please skip to 'A ruined marriage'

HEADS UP:
Now, this is a story that takes place in medieval times, but it will have the vibes from Bridgerton in the way of me writing in a more modern way rather than the way they would write back then example: you know the way Shakespeare writes; Two households, both alike in dignity, In fair Verona, where we lay our scene.
That will not be the way I am writing but more in a proper 21st-century type of way.

Story explanation: The kingdom of Ofurgh has been taunted by the Curse for centuries and when the beautiful princess was born it only became worse.
The Curse want to get rid of any heir to the throne, they want their land back, the land that was once theirs to rule.
King Merek had built the castle with his bare hands and eventually build an entire community, where the witch lived in peace.
King Merek saw what she did and fell in love, all was great until Merek passed and their son Odger took over, the Witch never liked Odger besides the fact that he was her own son, but because he was a very spoiled young Prince and an even more spoiled King.
When King Merek passed the Curse that had been living inside of the Witch broke out and became a menace, Odger saw what the curse did to his mother and destined her to hang.
The Curse heard of this and became furious, leaving the poor Witch within with no control, the Curse kept the Kingdom in the dark for a week and started a hefty battle resulting in Odgers death.
His son Jaspar (Adira's great-great-grandfather) took the throne but couldn't fix what Odger had broken.
The Witch had fled to save the Kingdom from more problems, but each year a week before Odgers passing date the Curse comes back and keeps the Kingdom in the dark.
Anyone who tries to go out during these times will receive punishment from the Curse.
Adira wants to change this, she doesn't want to live in fear because of something a stupid man had done, but since she is the head target of the Curse she has a hard time figuring stuff out.
So she gets the help of her enemy Irvin, now I understand that it is a very weird thing to ask your enemy for help, but she asks him because his father is her father's head guard and has all the connections.

Irvin: The Witch Hunter, Nickname: Vin, Adira's enemy, Son of Alaric the king's head guard, his parents and Genevieve's parents are arranging a marriage between them neither wants to marry the other.

Genevieve: Adira's best friend, her parents and Irvin's parents are arranging a marriage between them neither wants to marry the other.

Rinan: King of Ofurgh.

Arabella: Queen of Ofurgh.

Alaric: Head guard.
